The Daily Slash: June 24th 2010

We're at the tail-end of the week, and we're not going to lie: we can feel it. All the way to our bones. If you're getting paid this Friday, hopefully you've already decided on something to buy yourself -- gotta spend that earned money, right? Or, maybe you've already waited in line for the thing you wanted to get yourself? That's probably the case. But, moving away from the Apple-phone for a short time, let's take a look at The Best of R3 Media. First up, we've got a software update for the EVO 4G coming soon, an updated keyboard that we want, and some wireless syncing for BlackBerrys. And then, in the Dredge 'Net, Hulu's still being passed around, RIM does pretty well for itself, and head to a Microsoft Store to play some Kinect.

Hulu Plus Could be Adding CBS and Time Warner in Time for Paid Subscription

Hulu Plus Could be Adding CBS and Time Warner in Time for Paid Subscription

Until we get some kind of official confirmation, we're still sticking to Hulu Plus. It just has that kind of ring to it that we can't ignore. And it's been awhile since we last heard anything about the subscription-based service for one of the Internet's most popular video streaming services. While we already know that the subscription service will likely appear on Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Apple's iPad, the content of that subscription has been tossed around all willy-nilly. Thanks to a leak, though, we can start to see what may be utilized as content.

Hulu Coming to the Xbox 360, iPad, and Other Devices Thanks to Subscription Service

Hulu Plus. Hopefully you think that has a ring to it, because with another "confirmation" from Reuters, it's looking more and more like one of the Internet's favorite media streaming websites is about to add a premium feature. We've already heard plenty about what we could expect if such a thing did happen, if Hulu Plus did become a reality, and so we're not surprised that two of the previous devices are mentioned again in the report. Now, all we need is a time line for launch.

Hulu Expected to Appear on Xbox 360 at E3

Hulu Expected to Appear on Xbox 360 at E3

There's all sorts of talk about Hulu getting some kind of premium service. One that, obviously, you'd have to pay into to get any of the benefits from. And, while many people assumed that the iPad would be the means to that end, considering its presence in the media consumption market, there was another platform that many didn't even consider. And if sources are correct, it looks like that's the way Hulu is going. Following in the steps of Netflix, Hulu looks like it'll be making a long-term appearance on Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Hulu Cites Multiple Reasons for Turning Down HTML5 at This Point

Hulu Cites Multiple Reasons for Turning Down HTML5 at This Point

Everything is eventual, and even through this discouraging blog post from Hulu on the state of HTML5 in relation to the video streaming service, there's a light at the end of the tunnel that we can all look forward to. (If you dislike Flash, and are hoping for HTML5 adoption, that is.) Today Hulu updated their video player today, and while some may have assumed it would ultimately be HTML5 ready, that's not the case. And it might not be for a little while longer.

The Daily Slash: April 22nd 2010

We're one day away from the weekend, so we've got to make tonight special. You know, because it's one day before the weekend. And that's got to be a holiday somewhere. So, with that in mind, we'll start the Best of R3 with a bit of Vodafone UK Google Nexus One goodness, and then some Hulu iPad talk, and then some bad news for the Nexus One. And then in in the Dredge 'Net, we've got a watch made from the Ash of a volcano, Microsoft finally releases some touch goodness, and ARM executives letting everyone know they don't need to be bought.
