RIM wants Blackberry PlayBook Hulu Plus access

RIM launched the Blackberry Playbook not long ago and started sending the machines out to reviewers to spend some hands on time with. We put up our review of the Playbook last week and noted that the firmware was a wreck. Chris called the firmware "half-baked" at the time he wrote about the device. One of the bright spots was that at least for a while the Playbook users could access the streaming content on Hulu.

The BlackBerry Playbook came out just two days ago and although it lacked support for various basic functions such as email, calendar, and contacts without the crutch of having a BlackBerry smartphone as well, it was able to access Hulu, the popular movie and TV show streaming service, via its browser without a problem. Hulu is reportedly facing a cull on its free content, with Fox and ABC both considering pulling some of their shows in an attempt to make more money through paid subscriptions. iOS 4.2 was released today for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.  iOS 4.2 boasts over 100 new features however I feel AirPrint and AirPlay are among the most significant new features and deserve a deeper analysis.

AirPrint and AirPlay will be nice new additions for the iPhone and iPod Touch however the iPad is where they shine.  Printing had been one of the main early requests after the iPad came out signaling that consumers wanted to do more with their iPads than just surf the web and play games. Apple has provided that feature and gone one better with AirPlay.

Hulu Plus officially launches at $7.99 per month; hits Roku today

The Hulu Plus subscription service has officially launched, and as rumored Hulu has cut pricing from the $9.99 of the preview program. Now priced at $7.99 per month, the streaming media service is also making its debut on Roku set-top boxes (as promised back in October), while PS3 owners can also download the Hulu Plus application as long as they have a PlayStation Network account.
