Another stumbling block on the path to all-content multimedia enlightenment in a single STB has presented itself, with rights holders taking umbrage with TiVo DVRs supplied by cable companies. According to Suddenlink - though the limitation also stands for Cox and RCN - rights holders aren't willing to see streaming and VOD content on the same cable-powered device; that means that, while Hulu Plus is expected to launch on TiVo STBs soon, it will only be available for those bought at retail, not supplied by cable companies Read The Full Story

Hulu Plus officially launches at $7.99 per month; hits Roku today

The Hulu Plus subscription service has officially launched, and as rumored Hulu has cut pricing from the $9.99 of the preview program. Now priced at $7.99 per month, the streaming media service is also making its debut on Roku set-top boxes (as promised back in October), while PS3 owners can also download the Hulu Plus application as long as they have a PlayStation Network account. The standalone Boxee Box by D-Link is finally shipping, with 33 countries getting the $199.99 home entertainment box at launch. While we've known to expect the Boxee Box for some time now, what's particularly exciting is that Boxee is in the process of inking deals with Netflix and Hulu Plus, which will see the streaming content services both eventually available to users. Hulu Plus Now Available for BRAVIA HDTVs, Coming to PS3 Next Week

Hulu Plus is the subscription service from Hulu that allows people to watch full episode lists of their favorite shows, whenever they want. The service was announced earlier in the year, and opened into a private Beta not too long ago, but it looks like Hulu is ready to pull the Beta tag off, and let access expand to anyone who wants to jump into the mix. Today, Roku has officially announced that Hulu is coming to the Roku media streaming devices available in the market. It will be made available in the Hulu Plus variant, which means that if you want to get your hands on the media streaming service, you'll have to drop some money every month.
