Huawei MediaPad T2 10.1 renders hint at upcoming mid-range slate

Huawei MediaPad T2 10.1 renders hint at upcoming mid-range slate

Huawei's standing in the smartphone market might be rising even in the US, but as far as tablets go, its offerings have been mildly plain. Early this year at CES 2016, it unveiled the MediaPad M2 10.0, a somewhat decent Android tablet straddling the fine line between mid-range and premium. The MediaPad T2 10.0, which is the subject of today's leak, is, on the other hand, more confident in its place. Basically a more budget friendly, version of the MediaPad M2, the T2 offers just enough specs to survive 2016 with very few scars.

A new Nexus 7 Android tablet to beat your iPad

A new Nexus 7 Android tablet to beat your iPad

While the prospect of creating a piece of hardware that'd supplant the since-the-beginning biggest tablet ever iPad, Google's next device might be able to do the trick. Google is currently placing itself in a position in which it becomes more singular. The Google Play suite of apps has adopted a more visually standard look. Google's Play return program has become more active in the recent past. But what's that got to do with a tablet? Could Google finally be making a play for the space they've never dominated with a device that's just as powerful as the opposition? If the past couple generations of Nexus device are any indication, Google's in a prime position to finally make the real anti-iPad.

Huawei P9 debuts with dual Leica-certified cameras

Huawei has announced its new pair of flagship smartphones, the P9 and P9 Plus, in London today, and just as was predicted a few weeks ago, they feature cameras developed in collaboration with Leica. Both devices feature a dual camera setup, taking the unique approach of using one for color photos and the second for monochrome. However, while the Leica branding is featured on the phones, that doesn't mean the cameras were manufactured by the renowned German company — instead they "co-engineered" the lenses.

Huawei to finally launch a flagship phone in the US soon

It's been a while since Huawei made available a flagship level smartphone directly in the US. Sure, it has had a few Android handsets these past years, like the P8 Lite and, more recently, the GX8. Company consumer electronics chief Richard Yu revealed that Huawei plans to launch a flagship smartphone in the country later this year.

Now its the turn of the smartphone's overall design to get the same unforgiving treatment. That said, having all those details available before launch could very well in the Huawei P9's favor.
