We're here live at today's HTC event where they have officially announced the new HTC One smartphone. Of course, it has all the goodies that any fan would love, including "UltraPixel" camera technology. HTC One official: 4.7-inch Android with 4MP “UltraPixel” magic

, Feb 19th 2013 Discuss [0]

The HTC One is here, a new Android flagship wrapping the innovation we’ve known HTC for up in a sleek all-metal chassis with no compromise on specifications. A 4.7-inch Full HD smartphone packing a 1.7GHz quadcore Snapdragon 600 processor, beautiful crafting, and a slick new version of HTC Sense, it’ll begin its global roll-out in March 2013. There are some quirks on the spec-sheet, though, not least the “UltraPixel” camera with its 4-megapixel-equivalent resolution but which, HTC insists, is far more suited to the sort of everyday photography common among most users, and the “Zoe” system which blends stills and videos. In short, it’s the super-phone HTC is counting on to turn around its fortunes in 2013.

HTC One: All the carriers (but where’s Verizon?)

, Feb 19th 2013 Discuss [0]

HTC's new One flagship will launch on AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, EE, Vodafone, and O2 from mid-March, as part of a huge 185+ carrier roll-out, though Verizon is conspicuous by its absence from the list. The carrier launch partner roster - which covers more than 80 regions and countries - is already being described by HTC as its best-ever network engagement for a new phone, but Big Red being a hold-out in the US remains a mystery. HTC One appears in line for HTC One event

, Feb 19th 2013 Discuss [0]

This morning we've had the opportunity to have the briefest of glimpses at the HTC One in the wild as what we must assume is an HTC employee took several photos of the line headed in to the official HTC One event in New York City. We'll be live this morning in both NYC and London as the HTC event appears in just under an hour, but for now - here it is! This device has been showing up in bits over the past couple of weeks and we expect it to be pushed in full throughout the day. Read The Full Story

Ubuntu tablet tease counts down to HTC event

, Feb 18th 2013 Discuss [0]

In a move that’s making as clear a statement as can be made without outright saying the final word, Ubuntu has set up a timer with the words “tick, tock, tablet time” attached, lining up perfectly with the HTC event tomorrow morning. If there’s one thing that’s clear in the world of technology news reporting, it’s that there’s no such thing as a coincidence – and never more than in situations such as these. The doors open at 9:15 AM EST for a 10AM start in New York City – Ubuntu’s reveal looks to be set for the event’s start.

HTC One event teases big, flat, square device

, Feb 18th 2013 Discuss [0]

If your curiosity wasn't piqued before today for the HTC One event taking place tomorrow, it's certainly about to be. The folks behind the wheel at the HTCGlobal Twitter account have just tweeted - or Instagramed, rather, a photo of a collection of devices with sheets over them, one of these devices appearing to be rather square in shape - and much larger than a smartphone. Could it be that another HTC Jetstream is on the way? Read The Full Story

HTC One leaks in black with carrier pricing

, Feb 15th 2013 Discuss [0]

This week the HTC One has leaked once again, this time in a lovely black iteration complete with price points on three of the top four major carriers in the United States. This bodes well for the manufacturer as their launch with the HTC One X and HTC One S from a bit less than a year ago ended up not doing as well as they'd expected, largely due to carrier exclusives - rather than the wide release we're seeing here, that is. Will this be HTC's return to prominence with a single smartphone to rule them all? Read The Full Story

HTC One render and sample image leak

, Feb 11th 2013 Discuss [0]

Previously known as the HTC M7 that we've heard so much about, some more details about the HTC One have leaked out, specifically a new rendering and a sample image from the new device, courtesy of EVLeaks. The render claims to show off a full frontal of the rumored smartphone, while the sample image gives us a potential glimpse of what to expect from the camera when HTC's new flagship arrives, presumably a little over a week away. HTC M7 final name: “HTC One”

, Feb 8th 2013 Discuss [0]

Today it’s been tipped that the HTC marketing team have decided to strip away all the extra nonsense from the name of their next hero device, calling it simply “HTC One.” This naming scheme would have the device take on a brand new level of “hero” mode with a similar strategy to that of Apple when they decided to call the iPad 3 “the New iPad”, with each subsequent iPad simply retaining that one top name. This tip surrounds the device known as the HTC M7, a smartphone that’s been leaked several times before today by several sources including the CEO of HTC himself.

HTC’s “new sound and camera experience” may be deja-vu

, Feb 5th 2013 Discuss [0]

This week the folks at HTC have created a rather interesting “Brief History of Photography” timeline in which they tease a “new sound and camera experience” for 2013 – but isn’t that what they did last year? Have a peek back at the original announcement of HTC ImageSense and the HTC One X to see how both photography and superior sound quality (with Beats Audio) were pushed at Mobile World Congress 2012. Fast-forward to 2013 and we’ve got HTC once again claiming to bring on both next-level sound and photography. It seemed pretty great back then, will it seem great again here one year later?
