HTC announced its new One device last week along with Sense 5, which is a completely-redesigned user interface that will only be available on the HTC One. Or will it? Confirmed by HTC's Facebook marketing department, Sense 5 will be making its way to older HTC devices, including "global variants" of the One X, One X+, One S, and the Butterfly.

HTC Sense 5 coming to older devices
HTC SyncManager update to put the focus on iPhone imports
HTC recently announced the One smartphone and it looks like the company is going to try and make things a bit simpler for those switching from an iPhone. HTC is reportedly working on improving their SyncManager software so that it will be able to import data from an iPhone backup file. These are the files that are created with iTunes and if things arrive as expected, One users should be able to get data to include images and videos as well as calendar entries and text messages.

OtterBox HTC One cases “coming soon”
OtterBox is well known for their robust cases for a handful of devices. They offer a bit of insurance in case you ever drop your phone, or even throw your phone at a wall in a fit of anger. HTC's One launch yesterday saw the company's new Android flagship make its simultaneous debut in NYC and London, but if you weren't able to score tickets then HTC has uploaded the video of the event for your review. The 37 minute long clip is actually the UK launch, where HTC CEO Peter Chou was in attendance to reveal the all-metal One along with the new BlinkFeed social and news integration, and Zoe photography system.

Will 2013 be the year of the HTC One?
All of a sudden, I’m excited about HTC again. After a dire 2012 and a dreary line-up the twelve months before that, the HTC One is a blast of fresh air and has a real “return to form” feel for the company. I was lucky enough to spend some extended time with the One ahead of today’s launch, and came away impressed with HTC’s attention to detail and concerned that it would struggle to communicate its message. Rather than follow the trend of more megapixels, HTC opted out and went for a photography system that, it claims, is far more relevant to how people actually use their smartphones.

HTC One benchmarks: off the charts
This week we’ve had the opportunity to have a look at the new HTC One with not only a collection of hands-on experiences, but with processor benchmarking as well. Using the standard Quadrant Benchmark test here we’re finding that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor is blowing up the charts, destroying the previous high-mark in the basic readout by more than double – those tiny towers on the left are what’s left of the original HTC One X, the ASUS Transformer Prim TF201 (with a Tegra 3 processor), and some lesser beings. Even compared with the Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core SoC running on the Google Nexus 4 only reaches nearly 5000 as a final score in Quadrant – the HTC One reaches 12,417!

HTC One hands-on: Sense 5, BlinkFeed and TV
If the 4-megapixel camera is HTC’s big play with the One‘s hardware, HTC BlinkFeed is its big software play on the new flagship. A new homescreen for Sense 5, BlinkFeed works as a smorgasbord for “snackable” content – as HTC envisages it, the sort of instant gratification people are looking for when they whip their phone out in an idle moment. That happens more often than you might think, too; HTC’s research among its own users found they woke their phone up a couple of hundred times a day. HTC One hands-on: UltraPixel Camera and Zoe
HTC’s most controversial decision with the HTC One is going to be the choice of camera. In a market where “more” is so often seen as “better” the 4-megapixel equivalent main camera on the back of the One is going to raise eyebrows, no matter how hard HTC pushes its “UltraPixel” branding. Assuming the company can get would-be users to pay attention to the theory, though, there’s a whole lot to like about the UltraPixel approach: increasing the amount of data for each pixel that makes up the final frame.
