Verizon Droid Incredible by HTC on sale today

Feel like shopping for a new Android smartphone today?  Verizon Wireless' eagerly anticipated Droid Incredible by HTC has finally gone on sale, but if you weren't quick then you may have missed the first batch.  According to Verizon's site, "due to high demand" new orders for the Incredible will only ship by May 4th.  However, there should also be retail stock in stores, so it may be worth calling your local Verizon retailer. Google Verizon Nexus One plans shelved in favor of Droid Incredible?

Back in our Verizon Droid Incredible by HTC review last week, we pondered about who would pick up a Verizon Nexus One when the arguably superior Incredible was available.  It's looking like Google themselves might be wondering the same thing; their Nexus One page has been updated, with the previous "coming soon to Verizon" message replaced by a link to the Droid Incredible preorder site and the suggestion that the new handset is the "similarly feature-packed cousin of the Nexus One." The Droid Incredible is, well, Incredible

At the beginning of the year, Google called a group of reporters and analysts to Google HQ to announce a new phone, the Nexus One. A joint effort of HTC and Google, the N1 was a slim device, running a speedy Snapdragon processor and an AMOLED display. Running the latest version of Android, 2.1, it was state of the art, at least for January.

Verizon's HTC Incredible looks set to cast even the carrier's imminent Google Nexus One into the shade, and going by this leaked spec sheet that found its way into the BGR's hands, we're wondering who exactly would pick the Nexus.  The Incredible has a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset with 8GB of internal memory, an 8-megapixel autofocus camera and EVDO Rev.A.  There's also a 3.7-inch WVGA OLED capacitive touchscreen and WiFi b/g/n. HTC Incredible, Microsoft Pink and LG VS750 among Verizon’s six new devices?

The leaked Verizon teaser may have people wondering what six imminent devices the carrier may have up their sleeve, but one of BGR's sources reckons they know the truth.  According to them, the line-up includes the HTC Incredible, LG VS750, the Microsoft "Pure" and "Turtle" Project Pink devices and the Samsung U820 Reality.  As for the sixth device, that's unclear, but both the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and the Google Nexus One are possibilities.
