LG Arena KM900 official: 3G, touchscreen & heavy multimedia

After details leaked last week, and LG themselves teased the device's existence, the company has finally come clean and announced the LG Arena KM900.  The touchscreen handset will officially debut at Mobile World Congress in a week's time, but we now know that it will feature 7.2Mbps 3G HSDPA, WiFi, A-GPS and the company's new 3D S-Class User Interface.   Read The Full Story

Samsung NC20 and 3G NC10 go up for UK pre-order

The Samsung NC20 has gone up for pre-order in the UK, with delivery of the 12.1-inch netbook expected later this month for the white version and in March for the black model.  Both have VIA's 1.3GHz Nano U2250 processor, 1GB of memory and run Windows XP Home, and come with the 6-cell battery pack.  Also on offer is the Samsung NC10 with integrated 3G HSDPA, which will apparently begin shipping imminently.   Read The Full Story

Fujitsu add HSPA & EVDO 3G options to LifeBook notebooks & Tablets

Fujitsu have added high-speed 3G connectivity to a number of models in both their notebook and Tablet PC ranges.  The WWAN connectivity - of which both HSPA and, later, EV-DO options will be available, depending on model - is now available on five models, with a further two options following in Q2 2009. Toshiba TG01 announced: iPhone 3G and Touch HD killer?

Toshiba this morning announced their latest smartphone, the TG01, set to take on the HTC Touch HD and iPhone 3G.  The Toshiba TG01 is a 9.9mm thick Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone, with a 4.1-inch WVGA 800 x 480 384k pixel resistive touchscreen, 3G HSPA, WiFi, GPS and A-GPS.  It also features Toshiba’s own 3D user interface, and is the first device to use Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon QSD2850 chipset.

Acer Aspire One landing Feb; March with integrated 3G & Atom N280

Details of the upcoming 10-inch Acer Aspire One D150 have emerged, as the three different versions of the netbook to be available in France are detailed.  The range, which starts at around €329 ($425), will go on sale in February with the entry-level D150-0B, with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of memory, 160GB hard-drive and 3-cell battery.  That will be followed in March by two further versions, the D150-1B and D150-2BG, with the latter having such features as an improved Atom processor and integrated mobile broadband. HTC Touch Cruise with HTC Footprints geotagging app announced

HTC have announced their latest smartphone, the Touch Cruise, which comes complete with an automatic location-based logger called HTC Footprints.  The Touch Cruise has a 2.8-inch QVGA resistive touchscreen, quadband GSM, dualband HSDPA (900/2100 MHz for Europe/Asia, 850/1900MHz for North America), WiFi b/g and A-GPS, together with Bluetooth 2.0 and a 3.2-megapixel fixed-focus camera.  HTC Footprints, meanwhile, is launched from a dedicated button on the front panel, and allows every photo taken with the Touch Cruise's camera to be tagged with audio and text notes, together with GPS coordinates.   Read The Full Story

EKING M1 MID: WiMAX, GPS, HSDPA and full QWERTY

Chinese firm EKING are apparently preparing to sell the M1 MID - previously advertized as the Wibrain M1 MID - complete with 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth and GPS.  The Mobile Internet Device, spotted in its new incarnation by Pocketables, is believed to have a 4.8-inch touchscreen display running at 1024 x 600; it doesn't skimp on connectivity options either, with EKING giving it WiMAX, HSDPA and a digital TV tuner. CES 2009: Viliv S5, S7 and X70 Atom MIDs

Some of the most anticipated devices at CES have been Yukyung’s Viliv range of PMPs, UMPCs and MIDs.  The company has three models on show this week, the S5 “Entertainment” MID, the X70 Atom ”Communication” MID, and the S7 “Productivity” MID.  The S7, shown here, has a 7-inch WSVGA convertible display, full QWERTY keyboard and either 16GB SSD or 60GB hard-drive.

HTC S740 WM6.1 Smartphone Review

Fujitsu Stylistic ST6012 Tablet PC goes on sale

Nokia N85 and N79 shipping in the US

Nokia have officially begun shipping the N85 and N79 in the US, each unlocked and with a 5-megapixel camera and integrated GPS.  Both handsets support US-spec HSDPA, using the 850 and 1900 MHz bands, while the N85 adds European 2100MHz support.  Nokia's N-Gage mobile gaming platform is also enabled. Nokia USB HSPA modem coming early 2009

Nokia has confirmed that it plans to begin shipping a USB HSPA modem in early 2009, presumably the CS-10 Internet Stick model that it launched at the beginning of December.  According to the company's VP of hardware platform components, Nokia's experience in developing 3G chipsets and related technologies will stand them in good stead to take on segment-leader Huawei Technologies, the OEM behind many of the USB modems currently on the market.
