HP files for trademark on six TouchPad names

We already know all the details on the HP TouchPad that will launch on July 1 if HP sticks to the launch date. You can bet that HP already has other TouchPad tablets in mind for the market, though the future devices might change based on how well received the first TouchPad is. I'm still not convinced that another major tablet OS will do well on the market with Android and iOS already available and garnering most of the developer support between them. Read The Full Story

HP CTO Phil McKinney demos TouchPad tablet controlling home appliances

HP has a lot in mind for the TouchPad tablet that runs WebOS other than just the standard tablet duties we are all familiar with. HP is going all out to reach that number one plus status that it dreams of and to oust the iPad as the top tablet on the market. HP has noted in the past that WebOS would come to devices other than the tablet and smartphones we know about with things like printers and appliances hinted at. Read The Full Story

TouchPad will be “number one plus” tablet promises HP

HP expects its tablet to be better than number one when it launches. I think the company may be setting its sights a little too high. HP says that it is calling the goal number one plus for the TouchPad tablet when it launches later this year. I guess an argument could be made with HP running away with the top spot in computer shipments, it is number one plus. The tablet market may prove to be a much harder nut to crack for HP though with the huge lead other firms like Apple have in the tablet realm. Read The Full Story

Forget apps, Apple’s core iPad 2 experience needs to grow up

Shiny shiny, shiny Apple iPad; whiplash tablet in the dark. Forgive the Velvet Underground, but sometimes it really does feel like being a masochist would make the iOS user experience easier to stomach. Yes, Apple’s App Store may be the most bulging around, offering hundreds of thousands to titles whether you want to turn your iPad 2 into a recording studio, games machine or digital recipe book. Problem is, there’s still no way to turn the iPad into a proper, multi-user, family tablet.
