HP’s first go-around with a tablet didn’t actually go so well. The webOS-based TouchPad didn’t last long and was quickly discontinued. However, the company is back with another slate, only this time it’s running the more widely-adopted Android operating system, and it seems as though HP wants to give tablets another whack with its first-ever Android tablet, the Slate 7. We took a peek at it during CES 2013 back in January, and it’s a metal-infested 7-incher that looks to take on Google’s Nexus 7 with a relatively stock user interface in a clean and simple package. Let’s see how it fares.

HP Slate 7 hitting the UK on May 1 for £129

In case you were curious about the status of HP's Slate 7 Android tablet, you may be pleased to know that it finally has a ship date in the UK. The new tablet from HP, which was first introduced at Mobile World Congress back in February, will be making its way to the UK on May 1, where residents there can purchase it for £129. Today in Barcelona, Spain for Mobile World Congress 2013 the folks from HP have officially announced they'll be entering the Android tablet market. A few weeks back there were rumors regarding a high-end Tegra 4 HP tablet in the works, but instead the company is aiming for the 7-inch budget crowd. HP looks to give consumer tablets another go

HP is forming a new Mobility division which will make another attempt and breaking into the tablet space. This much was confirmed in a internal memo unearthed by The Verge, and details HP's plan to form what has been dubbed the "Mobility Global Business Unit." At first, HP's Mobility GBU will focus on developing consumer tablets, and will do so under the guidance of Alberto Torres, who most recently was in charge of Nokia's MeeGo products. HP Slate 8 shown as first Windows 8 business tablet

A brand new slide prepared for what appears to be HP internal presentation today has revealed HP's business-minded plans for Windows 8 tablets. This HP Slate 8 (different from the HP Slate 500, mind you) will bring enterprise functionality to the masses with a 10.1-inch display, enterprise level docking, and of course Windows 8 Professional OS, complete with touch controls. The slide this tablet is featured in also shows an EliteBook, making this tablet a likely candidate for the Elite line of HP products, their highest-level consumer line of products. Slate 2 resurrects HP’s tablet dreams with Windows 7, on sale this month

HP's original Slate 500 was a highly anticipated tablet that failed to make a splash, but found itself a loyal group of followers. Now months after the TouchPad's sadly curtailed run, HP is returning to its Windows stomping grounds with the Slate 2, a refreshed model with some tweaks more appropriate for touch and pen-based input. HP Slate 500 “high demand” stock warning prompts pre-order puzzlement

HP's Slate 500 tablet is leaving some pre-order customers confused, with the company blaming "high demand" for delays in shipment. Genghis Kent bought a Slate 500 on October 25, the very first day, but has just received an email from HP saying they "will not be able to fulfill the order from on hand stock" and instead he may be facing a 10-15 day delay from manufacturing. HP Slate 500 ships November 17

Back at the launch of HP's Slate 500 last week, the company wasn't saying exactly when the $799 Windows 7 tablet would arrive on the market.  Keen pre-order customers, however, have spotted a ship date of November 17 2010 on their orders, suggesting the 8.9-inch Slate 500 is just three weeks out.
