Skype WiFi Now Available On iOS For Accessing Over 1 Million Hotspots

Skype has just rolled out a new iOS app called Skype WiFi that will allow users to access over 1 million WiFi hotspots around the world. If you travel abroad frequently, this app will come in handy as it allows you to avoid data roaming charges. Free AT&T WiFi Coming to 20 New York City Parks this Summer

AT&T announced today that it will be adding free WiFi to 26 locations in 20 New York City parks. The free WiFi is available to all, AT&T customers and non-customers. The service rolled out to three parks today, with 23 additional parks to follow this summer. Nothing is cheaper than free, and it is hard to complain about quality of service when you are paying nothing out of pocket. Although free WiFi services have been talked about for years, free WiFi hotspots have yet to spread city-wide in the US. Read The Full Story

Samsung and Verizon Hand Out Tickets for SIM Cards and Mobile Hotspots at Google I/O 2011

The free gear continues to flow at Google I/O. Samsung and Verizon have handed out cards which are good for a free Verizon Mobile Hotspot and a SIM card which gives three months of complimentary service from Verizon. The tickets can be exchanged for the gear tomorrow afternoon at the Gear Pick Up location at the conference. T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot Dropping Tomorrow

We reported back in March during the CTIA Wireless expo that T-Mobile will be doubling their 4G network speeds to 42Mbps in select cities. Along with that announcement was that they will also be launching several new 4G devices including the T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot sometime in Spring. We had just gotten official word on the iPad 2 release for Verizon and now we hear from rival carrier AT&T. Not only have pricing plans for the iPad 2 been announced, but also pricing on the new hotspot option for the iPhone 4. Personal Hotspots Coming from AT&T

AT&T has confirmed that it will begin supporting the Personal Hotspot feature with the launch of iOS 4.3 on March 11. Users who have the $25 a month DataPro plan which allows for 2 GB of usage, plus the $20 a month tethering add-on will get the update automatically when the update pushes out on the 11th. Users with earlier versions of the iPhone will not be able to use the feature. Verizon's iPhone shipped with the feature, so AT&T has been quick to offer it as well. Read The Full Story

Skype Expands To Over 500,000 WiFi Hot Spots

Skype just announced at MWC 2011 that it has expanded its Skype Access coverage to over 500,000 hotspots. The Skype Access service was introduced back in January 2009 and provides pay-per-minute access to WiFi hotspots around the world. With this service, users can take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots without having to pay by the day or by the hour, and can conveniently pay only as much as they use with their Skype Credit. Sierra Wireless AirCard 753S and 754S debut at MWC 2011

Sierra Wireless has announced a pair of new WiFi hotspots at MWC 2011 in Barcelona. The two new hotspots are the AirCard 753S and the 754S. AT&T Confirms Hotspot Tethering for iPhone

O2 WiFi promises free UK wireless access for all

Certainly seems that way this morning, with carrier O2 announcing O2 WiFi, a public hotspot service that will offer free connectivity in venues across the UK no matter what cellphone or broadband provider you're using.
