Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Hyundai plan Nordic fuel-cell splurge

Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Hyundai have inked an agreement with various Nordic countries to splay fuel-cell infrastructure - and the cars to take advantage of it - across the region starting from 2014. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a combination public and private companies and organizations in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark will see zero-emission vehicles and a hydrogen distribution network set up by 2017, following similar agreements in Europe.

Keeping up with America's need to be constantly connected, Honda has unveiled its new HondaLink service, which will be featured in the new Accord (along with future Honda models). The service is the result of a partnership between Honda and Aha and allows drivers to listen to a selection of Internet-based stations, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Yelp restaurant listings. In order to use HondaLink, consumers will need to download the HondaLink app for either iOS or Android and then link their phone to their car via Bluetooth. Since the service is completely controlled through this smartphone app, HondaLink won't need its own data plan to function.

Verizon is hoping to get your next car online, launching the 4G Venture Forum for Connected Cars to push LTE integration - along with the cloud, mobile content and more - into dashboards. A partnership with BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Kia and Toyota, along with links to MIT, the 4G Venture Forum for Connected Cars "will collaborate and explore ways to deliver connectivity to vehicles of all types, by leveraging open standards and discussing ways to accelerate development of the 4G LTE ecosystem across automotive OEMs, suppliers, device manufacturers, application developers and content publishers."
