Sony has outed a trio of new consumer-level camcorders, the Handicam DCR-SX15E and DCR-SR15E, and the Bloggie Touch.  The two new Handicams record HD video to Memory Stick or SD card (SX15E) or an 80GB hard-drive (SR15E), while the Bloggie Touch has 8GB of onboard flash. Read The Full Story

As far as cameras and camcorders go, there seems to be a hard push for the consumer market. Of course, consumers buy things, so if you can shove all your HD recording into a small package, why not market it to the mainstream market, right? Canon doesn't want to forget about the "prosumer," let alone the professional market, and that's exactly why they've brought the XF100 and XF105 into the limelight for a few minutes here. Roku slash Netflix streamer prices; 1080p HD update promised

Roku has slashed prices of its media streaming range, with the entry-level Roku SD now priced at just $59.  Meanwhile, the company is also promising to update their Roku HD-XR model - which has dropped from $129 to $99 - to support 1080p HD, up from the 720p HD of the current version.  That will join the USB playback support, which is also due later in the year. Netgear NeoTV 550 HD network media player outed

Netgear has outed their latest HD-capable home media player, the Netgear NeoTV 550, together with a range of new HomePlug AV compliant Powerline adapters delivering up to (a theoretical) 500Mbps connection speeds.  The NeoTV 550 (NTV550) has HDMI, component and composite video outputs (together with analog and S/PDIF digital audio outputs) and can play local 1080p HD files on attached USB, eSATA or SD storage or stream from UPnP, DLNA or WMP11 network sources.  Meanwhile a second version, the NeoTV 350, swaps the eSATA for another USB port and has a more basic remote. Sony A580 and A560 DSLRs pack Full HD video, auto-HDR, more

Sony has announced its latest high-end DSLRs, the 16.2-megapixel A580 and 14.2-megapixel A560, each capable of Full HD video recording and up to 7fps stills.  Both models get a new, 15-point phase-detection autofocus system, the 3D sweep panorama we've seen from the NEX-5 and SteadyShot INSIDE in-body sensor shift image stabilisation. Ordro HDV-D350S pico-projector HD camcorder outed

Ordro isn't a well-known brand for camcorders around these parts, but the company's new HDV-D350S is looking to grab some headlines by virtue of its integrated pico-projector.  The D350S records up to 60fps 1440 x 1080 video or 12-megapixel stills, but also has a removable pico-projector attachment that slots onto a mount on the top of the camera; that can project up to a 60-inch WVGA picture.
