Also present at the event was Richard Plepler, CEO of HBO. "This is a transformative moment for HBO," said Plepler, showing Game of Thrones, Band of Brothers, True Detective, and Angry Boys onscreen.

Comcast: HBO Go on PS4 is a no go

Comcast: HBO Go on PS4 is a no go

This is one of those stories that doesn't really shock you but could still pretty much leave you fuming. Although Sony has finally made PS4 users' dreams come true by making the HBO Go app available, a certain subset of that group is missing out on the fun. The service still requires console owners to authenticate their devices with their cable operator and while most companies have been glad to do so, one, unsurprisingly, refuses to budge. That's right. Comcast is still blocking HBO Go on Sony's consoles.

Game of Thrones Season 5 teaser trailers: dragons at last

Here be dragons, they said, there'll be dragons coming to the mainland soon, they kept saying. But there haven't been dragons where I've wanted them in Game of Thrones on TV yet. That's what I said. I want to see dragons where it matters most, I said. Lo! Game of Thrones season 5 will branch off from book series, be ‘bloodier’

Game of Thrones season 5 will branch off from book series, be ‘bloodier’

We’ve all experienced it, either in person or online; someone who has actually read the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ books the ‘Game of Thrones’ TV show is based on brags that they know what’s coming. Sometimes, they even ruin for everyone — or are annoyed when the show doesn’t mimic the books exactly. With the TV show outpacing the slow pace with which George R.R. Martin pens the book series, it seems things are about to change. A lot.

HBO’s Silicon Valley season 2 trailer out, has secrets

HBO’s Silicon Valley season 2 trailer out, has secrets

The first season of HBO’s Silicon Valley was a funny look at startups, and a satirical look at what it takes to go from really awesome idea to upstart company. Ending on a high note, the series is back for season two, continuing on the path of greatest resistance: starting your own company. Though some cast members are gone, the core group remains, diligent as ever to get Pied Piper off the ground, compressing digital audio files. As you can see in the trailer below, the music service isn’t the whole story.

Comcast finally allows HBO GO on Roku

Comcast finally allows HBO GO on Roku

If you’ve got Comcast and a Roku, you might know the pain I’m about to describe. You find HBO GO via the Roku channel list, start to set it up, and suddenly — bam! If Comcast is your cable provider, that’s where it ended. You could find HBO programs via On Demand or the app, but that wasn’t quite as handy as your Roku. Those days are over. Comcast has announced they will be supporting Roku for HBO GO and SHOWTIME ANYTIME.
