HBO Go now supports AirPlay, coming to Apple TV soon

Today at the Dive into Media conference, HBO's President and COO, Eric Kessler, announced that HBO Go will now support Apple's AirPlay protocol, and will also be coming to the Apple TV at some point in the future. The addition of AirPlay support means that HBO Go subscribers can beam their content from their iOS devices to the big-screen TV in the living room, provided that you have an Apple TV to do the grunt work. HBO Go app coming to Apple TV by mid-year?

If you have an Apple TV set-top box attached to the TV in your living room, you may be getting a new entertainment option for the device by the middle of the year. Bloomberg reports that two people familiar with plans for Apple say that Apple and Time Warner Incorporated are negotiating to bring HBO Go to the Apple set-top box. Nordic viewers can get HBO Go with no TV subscription

I think that a bunch of people here in the United States and in other countries that would gladly cancel the cable subscription if they could get HBO Go programming as a separate subscription. However, in the US and everywhere else HBO only allows access to its online streaming HBO Go service if you have a qualifying cable subscription. Previously, it was only available for Android smartphones and the Kindle Fire, among other non-Android devices.
