Zotac has announced a new line up in its Zbox mini-PCs, the E-Series. With the E-Series comes Intel Haswell processors up to a 3.2GHz i7 -- the various hardware options are spread across different models. In some configurations, the system could serve as a casual gaming machine.
Apple's Mac mini doesn't get a lot of love, at least when it comes to updates. It looks like that will change next month, if a Belgian retailer's website is accurate -- a model update is set to arrive bearing Intel Haswell processors, as well as a couple other changes. Unfortunately, no images of the next iteration are available, but the end of February appears to be its slated launch time frame.
HP has refreshed its EliteBook line, launching the new EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 ultrabook, giving the Revolve touchscreen convertible a Haswell update, and debuting a tiny desktop that can hide between your display. The EliteBook Folio 1040 is the new flagship, a 14-inch ultraportable notebook with the choice of up to a 1080p HD display and dualcore Core i5 or i7 processors, wrapped up in MIL-STD 810G ruggedness tests for temperature, vibration, shock, drop, and even surviving explosive atmospheres.
Giada is known for its small bare-bones desktop computers, the latest of which we saw released back in March. The company is back with a new offering, the Giada F300, bringing with it Intel Haswell and all the perks that come with the processors. This is a big step up from the commonly used Atom processors, and aids in what is said to be a near silent machine.
Acer has added touch to its C720 Chromebook, creating the $200 Acer C720P Chromebook, an affordable 11.6-inch alternative to Google's well-reviewed but expensive Pixel. The new C720P adds a 1366 x 768 touchscreen display to the C720, with Intel's Celeron 2955U Haswell processor under the hood, and the promise of up to 7.5 hours of battery life.
Dell this weekend announced the release of its third XPS 13 Laptop, Developer Edition, codenamed Sputnik 3. This 3.02-lb client-to-cloud touchscreen ultrabook comes prepackaged with Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS and a 4th-generation Intel (Haswell) processor. Developed by developers for developers, the Sputnik 3 is available in two configurations.
This week the folks at Dell have issued forth two of there newest notebook machines - the Dell XPS 11 2-in-1 and the Dell XPS 13. These machines are both rolling with extremely high definition displays and work with the newest in new 4th generation Haswell Intel Core processors, not to mention Gorilla Glass up front to protect that all-important screen. Both of these systems are being made available today through Dell online.
It's all-change in Mac land, and after the MacBook Air got its Haswell refresh earlier this year - to great effect - it's the turn of the MacBook Pro with Retina display to be brought up to speed. Apple's pixel-dense desktop replacement was always a powerhorse, at least in 15-inch form, but now gets Intel fourth-gen Core processors and Iris Pro graphics to deliver more grunt along with more battery life.
When Valve revealed the specs for its Steam Machine prototypes last week, the name of one major chip manufacturer was absent, which undoubtedly led to many a speculation and discussion over the Internet. It seems, however, that such musings may have been premature as Valve is now confirming that come 2014, Steam Machines will also be running on chips from AMD.
