Geek hacks Kinect to work with Wii controllers for Call of Duty action

We have seen all sorts of hacks for the Kinect since the motion tracking gesture controller launched for the Xbox 360. The thing is really cool and has turned out to be quite the hackable little device for people to take and use for all sorts of things. So far, most of those hacks haven’t been anything that I am interested in. Read The Full Story

Nexus S Boots Ubuntu

, Jan 10th 2011 Discuss [5]

There's no doubt at this point that the Nexus S from Samsung, which out of the box runs Android's latest version of Android (2.3), is a versatile device. We've already seen the handset boot up MeeGo, and now the developer is at it again. This time, though, we've got Ubuntu loading up on the device. The XDA developer forum member, stroughtonsmith -- or Steven Troughton-Smith-- has gone through the same method of bringing MeeGo to the device, but focusing his attention on Ubuntu this time around. Nexus S Booted to MeeGo OS

, Jan 9th 2011 Discuss [4]

Our pal Steven Troughton-Smith, aka XDA Developers Forum member stroughtonsmith, has released word that MeeGo has successfully been booted from the Nexus S. He and those working with him have booted MeeGo on their Nexus S handsets from a rootfs image on their internal memory - that means no flashing is needed at all! This is big news because not only does MeeGo offer a whole different operating system on a powerful bit of device, but it might very well be the first operating system (aside from the native Android) to work on the Nexus S successfully. Super fun and awesome hackin away! Read The Full Story
