Galaxy S III CyanogenMod 9 software spews forward

The team behind CyanogenMod have just opened the doors for Samsung Galaxy S III users to test our their newest software build in "nightly" mode this week. The software known as CyanogenMod 9 is by far the most popular 3rd party "unofficial" build of Android on the web, and now that it's hit the Samsung Galaxy S III in what's essentially the equivalent of a Beta mode, it's about to get a whole lot more popular once again. This software will bring you much closer to a vanilla version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich than Samsung's own TouchWiz UI allows, this being one of the main draws for all CyanogenMod-laden devices on the market today. LulzSec Reborn grabs and leaked 10,000 Twitter accounts

LinkedIn hack update includes “no unauthorized access”

Thursday afternoon this week LinkedIn head Vicente Silveira updated the world on what their findings were regarding the hack attempt on their site earlier in the week. This report included 6.5 million hashed LinkedIn passwords being shared, but not one single account actually being compromised. The hack attempt ended up spilling millions of passwords, but none successfully tied to a user account. Regardless of this, LinkedIn is taking measures to assure that this event is cleaned up after and that the passwords that were revealed are dealt with accordingly. Read The Full Story

LinkedIn Password Hacking confirmed

Earlier today it was reported that there was very possibly a leak of passwords in a massive hack attack on the networking site known as LinkedIn - that report has been verified now by LinkedIn officially. This confirmation comes from the Director of LinkedIn, Vicente Silveira, who noted that the company does indeed correspond directly with LinkedIn accounts and that they are currently pursuing steps that will lead to better understanding the event. CyanogenMod Android hack hits 2 million installs

The hacked and completely fan-made Android-based ROM known as CyanogenMod has reached a massive 2 million installs this week, reminding us that it is far and away the most successful Android 3rd party system of all time. This update comes only a few months after CyanogenMod reached 1 million installs, the Google mobile OS-based hack growing now as what appears to be an exponential rate. Galaxy S III rooted before release

It's basically a tradition at this point with giant phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S III that they get hacked and rooted before they're released into the wild with final software - and it's no different today. Developer and hacker Chainfire has posted information on how he and his colleagues have achieved root on the Galaxy S III by working through an insecure kernel code leaked by an intrepid "insider" who he's saying will remain nameless. This week as Facebook goes public with their IPO with NASDAQ, developers at the social network have celebrated in their own special way - by hacking the stock exchange's starting bell. What you're about to see are some relatively simple behind-the-scenes images taken by a few developers working at Facebook specifically on the NASDAQ bell ringer Mark Zuckerberg used this morning to open the stock exchange as well as the listing of Facebook for the first time in history to the public.
