Harmonix hiring for next-gen, real-time combat game

Well here's something we definitely weren't expecting to see today: Harmonix, the genius studio behind Rock Band and Guitar Hero, is apparently developing a real-time combat game for next generation consoles. A job ad on Gamasutra reveals as much, with Harmonix looking for a "Combat Designer to create real-time, single-player combat experiences for a brand new IP on next generation hardware." Student builds creepy Guitar Hero playing robot type thing

I once watched this scary movie where one of those ventriloquist dummies stalked some people in a house with a big knife. The movie really creeped me out. This Guitar Hero playing robot created by a student at Minnesota West Technical College is really creepy and reminds me of that movie. Guitar Hero 5 for Wii debuts full SD streaming & loading

Guitar Hero 5 is set to be the first Wii game to offer full loading from SD card, with Activision promising SDHC streaming for the upcoming music title.  IGN sat down with the team to discuss the change, which will see over 800 songs together with audio quality, note data, album art, and any mo-cap triggers or song-specific displays fitting on a 32GB SD card. Logitech Wireless Drum Controller for PS3

Logitech have announced their latest gaming peripheral, the Wireless Drum Controller for Guitar Hero on the PS3.  Consisting of three drum-heads with recessed rims, dual cymbal pads and a kick pedal, the system is licensed by Activision and connects to the PS3 via a 2.4GHz wireless USB receiver.   Read The Full Story

Microsoft unveils Xbox 360 wireless microphone

Microsoft revealed a brand new wireless microphone today meant for use with the Xbox 360. Designed to be used with music games like Rock Band, Guitar Hero and Lips, this mic sports specific features that make gameplay just a tad easier. You won't need any wires or adapters, since this mic takes full advantage of the wireless console and it even has motion sensors built in for add functionality. Additionally, there's lights on the base. Available in black, this Xbox 360 wireless microphone will be available for purchase sometime in the fall. At that time, you can expect a price tag around $50.
