Cadillac ELR to enter production in late 2013

GM has announced that it's instituting a significant recall on a number of vehicle models due to the risk of fuel leakage. The recall covers almost 41,000 General Motors models, including the Pontiac G5 and Torrent, Chevrolet Cobalt and Equinox, and Saturn Ion. GM BioRID crash test dummy helps evaluate rear impact injuries

General Motors and other automakers have used crash test dummies in the design and engineering of new vehicle safety equipment for a long time. GM has announced that it using a new type of crash test dummy called BioRID to help understand how drivers and passengers are hurt in rear impact accidents. OnStar RelayRides brings auto sharing nationwide

General Motors customers who have OnStar-enabled vehicles have been revealed this week to be getting a car rental service if they do so choose - their own cars being the subject of this new program. Each OnStar subscriber will soon have the ability to rent out their car when they're not using it in order to off-set the cost of owning a vehicle in the big city. This program is called RelayRides, and works with drivers' iPhone app as well as through the RelayRides marketplace through simple key exchanges. Read The Full Story

Vauxhall ADAM city car offers smartphone hub and LED star ceiling

GM's Vauxhall has revealed its latest urban car, the Vauxhall ADAM, complete with cutesy looks and a bagful of technology to suit the smartphone-addicted. Set to hit roads in January 2013, the ADAM will be offered as a three-door, five-seater with a distinctive "floating roof" design and what Vauxhall claims are "almost unlimited visual combinations" outside and in. GM and Facebook said to be rekindling advertising flame

Back in May, General Motors suddenly ceased advertising on Facebook. No specific details were given, although it was believed that the advertising campaign had little impact. Now the Wall Street Journal reports that GM and Facebook are in talks to resume advertising on the social network. Senior executives have confirmed that both companies are currently in talks. GM studies driver behavior in self-driving vehicles

General Motors has announced that it has teamed with research partners to try to determine how non-driving activities influence driver behavior in self-steering, semi-autonomous vehicles. General Motors unveiled technology previously that will be available on future vehicles allowing the vehicle to handle all steering, braking, and throttle inputs for the driver in certain situations. Chevrolet makes the 2013 Volt better

Automotive behemoth General Motors has ditched its Facebook advertising plans, the car company has confirmed, though it intends to continue using the social network for free outreach to consumers. GM gave no specific reason publicly for its decision to cease using Facebook adverts, but a source familiar with the decision told WSJ that the campaigns "had little impact on consumers" and were not being seen as the best use of advertising budgets. California demands electric cars from more manufacturers

California has gained a reputation as one of the scripted governmental bodies in the world when it comes to the environment, and like it or not, there's no denying that its legislation drives green technology. At the moment the top six automakers in the state - Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda and Nissan - are required to sell a certain number of all-electric or fuel-cell cars every year.
