SlashGear 101: What is NVIDIA G-Sync?

SlashGear 101: What is NVIDIA G-Sync?

We've got one of the first NVIDIA G-Sync monitors in the world sitting on our desk this week, and though we're not quite to production level preview time as of yet, the impression we're getting already is one of a whole new era in gaming graphics. Aside from that, if there's one thing we can say unequivocally about this ASUS unit with G-Sync inside before speaking about its quality, it's that the concept behind it isn't something everyone is going to understand. Not right off the bat. Instead we've got some explaining to do before we begin.

NVIDIA fan builds 11k piece LEGO replica of GTX 690

This month the folks at NVIDIA's desktop gaming sector got in contact with a fellow by the name of Xiaosheng Li, a fan who had constructed a replica of a GeForce graphics card out of LEGO. This feat was completed with a massive number of bricks - 11,396 of them to be exact - and is many times the scale of the original graphics card. What you're seeing here is the largest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690 graphics card on the planet - made of LEGO, that is.

NVIDIA GeForce Experience 1.8 update brings customization abilities

NVIDIA GeForce Experience 1.8 update brings customization abilities

If you've been working with the NVIDIA GeForce Experience app over the past year or so, you've found that a single click of a button can result in full-on optimization of game settings for your gaming rig. What NVIDIA is doing this week is updating the GeForce Experience to version 1.8, this thereby allowing the customization of your optimized experience. While you wont have the NVIDIA-suggested perfect combo, you'll have whatever you think is best, and all from a single control station rather than inside each individual game.

In Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag you've got a game that can be wholly enjoyed by a hardcore fan of the series just as well as a newcomer. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti release set with market structure details

It would appear that we'll still be getting the full run-down on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti piecemeal as the company's push today includes no more than a price and release date. Readied for the 7th of November, this graphics card is set to out-do the current high-performing GeForce GTX 780 in price. This should follow with the normal "Ti" boosts in performance, suggesting we'll be seeing a card that's much closer to the performance of the highest-end NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan.

Batman: Arkham Origins Review

Batman: Arkham Origins Review

After the first 10 minutes of playing Batman: Arkham Origins, my original cold attitude toward another Bat-title were doused. Hearing first of an early Batman story made me disinterested - why would I want to experience Batman before all the good villains entered Gotham City? As it turns out, there's not only a lot more to this equation than the storyline, there's also a lot more to the storyline than I expected - in the first 10 minutes of gameplay, I'd encountered four characters I recognized (not counting Black Mask, Bruce Wayne, or Alfred on the intercom, of course).

NVIDIA Editor’s Day 2013 Wrap-up: G-Sync, 4K, and gaming’s blurred lines

Though the event continues to be called "Editor's Day", this week we had an extended stay with NVIDIA in Montreal, learning about the company's newest in gaming development and hardware innovation. The biggest news of the event was surely the unveiling of G-Sync, a hardware module made by NVIDIA to be planted in the backs of high-end gaming monitors, making their functions slave to GeForce GTX graphics cards, but that wasn't the only big push made by the company for industry. Also making appearances were NVIDIA SHIELD, development initiatives through GameWorks, and some of the biggest names in game development today.
