With more and more people using their cellphone to tell the time, a watch has to do something pretty special to earn a place on your wrist. Cadence has gone for the discretely-geeky market with its 4-Bit Binary Watch, pairing classically elegant design with binary notation instead of numbers, and we’ve got one to give away to a lucky SlashGear reader!

Entering is simple: just head over to the SlashGear Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SlashGear.com, click “Like” and then leave us a wall post letting us know what you think the timepiece of the future will look like. Make sure to mention that “Cadence and SlashGear are timeless” in your post!

Cadence has generously offered to ship internationally, so this contest isn’t limited to the US. We’ll pick one winner after the closing date of Thursday, June 9 2011 at 11am PST. Good luck!

Rules

Contest begins June 1 2011, and ends June 9 2011 at 11:00AM PST. Competition is open to SlashGear readers over the age of 18. One entry per contest per person. Family members of Cadence and SlashGear/Android Community are not permitted to enter. Competition entries are only accepted via the specified SlashGear Facebook page; entries left in the comments section of this or any other post will not be recognized. One entry per person (and yes, we check).

The winner will be announced on SlashGear and will be expected to contact SlashGear via Facebook; they will be expected to respond within 24 hours else their prize may be forfeit and another winner selected. Editors decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Winner agrees that their name and details of their entry may be used for promotional purposes by, but not limited to, Cadence and SlashGear/Android Community.

Prize consists of one Cadence 4-Bit Binary Watch. There is no cash alternative or any other alternative for prize winners unless this prize should become unavailable, in which case SlashGear and Cadence reserve the right to substitute another prize of equal or greater value. Contest provided by SlashGear/Android Community. Prizing provided by Cadence and will be shipped directly to the giveaway winner; the winner is responsible for any customs fees that may be charged by their country.

Cufflinks aren’t something I really have a use for. As dressed up as I get is khakis and a shirt with three buttons and a collar. I certainly don’t dress up enough to need cufflinks. If you are the cufflink wearing sort, there are a number of geek offerings on the market that will let you look all fancy, but still shout to anyone that looks closely that you are a geek. One of the geekier sets that we have talked about were those USB flash drive cufflinks this time last year.

Another set of cufflinks that are even geekier than that flash drive set has turned up. If you are into bikes, you will really like these cufflinks. These look like the front sprocket and crank form a bike. These little things come in three different finishes. If you are wondering how they are made, they are apparently 3D printed out of powdered steel and bronze.

That is cool enough to qualify them as geek gear in my book. I can see people that ride bikes in the large groups in my area wearing these to one of the many charity functions that are always going on in my town. If these tickle your fancy, you can pick up a set for $59 and they will be available in June. I’d have to actually buy a shirt with cuffs to be able to use them.

The first time I saw Back to the Future II there were a few things that I really wanted from the movie. I wanted that hover board, the DeLorean, and those Nike shoes that laced themselves. The DeLorean and hove board are still not something I have, but with a bit of work and some time we can all have those self-lacing shoes.

Over an Instructables is a project that takes you thought the step-by-step process of creating your own version of McFly’s shoes from the future. The finished product is pretty cool.

Despite being cool, the finished product isn’t that practical with a big motor on the back for tightening the laces. I wouldn’t build these things and then try to go to the airport or anything. Check out the video below to see them in action.

It’s a terminator robot’s skull–yes from Cyberdyne Systems–turned into a DVD player. And while it certainly looks awesome, no one seems to know where to buy it.

That being said, if you’re a diehard Terminator fan, no one will be able to stop you from tracking this one down. It seems the eyes glow red when the device is in use, too.

And as cool as this DVD player is (and shiny!) I can’t help but be a little intimidated by it. I mean, this exoskeleton head has some serious pent up rage. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to get into a movie with this evil-eyed bot staring me down.

This ocarina from Think Geek has a painted on tri-force logo as well as six different holes. On Think Geek they actually have a video so you can hear how it sounds. It is made of glazed earthenware, not plastic, although the shiny finish does give the look of plastic.

It also comes with a song book that has tunes straight from the Legend of Zelda. It will end up costing you $39.99. If you’d like more choices, you can go here and find lots of ocarinas at all different prices from a different company.

They don’t just slap a Battlestar Glactica logo on the front either, this toaster will actually brand each piece with an image of Cylon. Making each piece of toast you pop in extra geeky.

I would like to point out that I resisted the urge to call them pretty and called them cool instead. However, you have to admit the colored glass is aesthetically appealing.

These are made by Jeff Burnette, who has 30 years experience at blowing glass. He doesn’t have any prices listed, but like most sites of that type, you can usually contact for more information.

The Darth Vader version features red glowing eyes which can glow all through the night if you like. The R2D2 version also features flashing lights and his usual beeping from the movie, which I’m hoping can be muted.

Although the beeping would be cool on occasion, after a while it’d just become annoying. The hubs are unfortunately only being sold in Japan thus far and for $66 a piece.

One option is to go pick up a snazzy new bicycle and pedal yourself to work everyday. Well if you’re going to do that, you might as well do it in true geeky style.

This steampunk tricycle features not only a bit of lighting but a cool little storage space on the back for anything you might want to tote with you. The tricycle is even topped off with elk hide wrapped handle bars and a brass bell.

To be honest, the bike looks ten times better with the creator sitting on it in his clothing that flows so well with the steampunk style. The Brass Lion also has a much smoother ride than any average bicycle I have ever seen.

You can’t be a real gamer unless you have tons of vintage gaming accessories lying around. The only thing that could possibly rival Space Invaders are all of the Mario accessories.

The best part is that these are sold as a set, so you get three keychains in three different colors. Which means you can give one to your gaming spouse if you have one. The set includes a blue, a yellow and red one all three are sold together for $8.50.

The Harkonnen Chair, whether or not you even know what Dune is, is bad ass. Once you order one of these excessively expensive chairs it will take two months to get to you after you have placed your order.

The prices range depending on your specifications. The fiberglass version will only set you back a mere $30,000 whereas the aluminum is being sold for $45,000. A small price to pay to seem all-powerful while pwning noobs on your lvl 70 rogue.

They are actually the same size as the average police handcuffs and fold in half for easy transport. Any boys with a mischievous girl should be careful though since they don’t mention anything about a safety release and boys in Batman cuffs just look slightly homosexual.

Even though sometimes I wonder if Batman wouldn’t have rather used these cuffs on Robin as opposed to Batgirl. These fully functioning cuffs with 2 keys are scheduled to start being sold in January of 2009 and is priced at $136.99.

If you haven’t felt quite enough like a ninja lately, a bit of quirky lighting might boost your confidence a bit. Especially if it seems sharp and dangerous, okay it might not really be, but it is shiny and designed after a dangerous weapon.

One common trait amongst a lot of geeks is the fascination with all that is sharp and pointy, especially if it has anything to do with ninjas. Now whether that is due to their mind over matter appeal or because they can sneak in anywhere they like, I have no idea. The LED throwing stars would be great especially if you had to chuck them into the wall to get them to stick.

However, the sad news is that there really is no word as to how they would work due to the fact they are just a concept design. Hopefully the designer Stanislave Katz will figure out how to turn it into a reality.

The circuit board mainly meant as a mouse pad, but with the slight side function of the ability to be used as a place mat, has a slight snag. Anyone using an optical mouse has been warned against using this particular mouse pad, by the sellers. It might apparently run into a slight problem due to the reflective surface. Therefore only those using a mouse with one of those outdated rolling balls on the inside can actually use one of these.

One might think that since most people use optical mice now that they might have decided to rethink using a circuit board for a mouse pad, but no, they gave it a shot anyway. It is being sold for about $16.

This particular skin is offered for all laptop sizes listed, both Mac and PC as well as most of the iPods and the iPhone as well. The skins come at a range of prices, the iPod Touch skin is being sold for $14.95 and the laptops are all sold for $29.95.

I am a bit torn with this hub, yes, it has four USB ports, but its a giant block. I mean look at it, the hub takes up less than half of it, which means the rest of it is to just sit there and look pretty.

The hub doesn’t require power and won’t be released till August of this year. Which seems a bit late in comparison to when the movie actually came out. It will be sold for $35.

Not all geek girls like to show their geeky colors by wearing all sorts of gaming and tech inspired fashion, however, it is fun from time to time. This Zelda corset is definitely one way to show your pride in one of the classic games we all know and love.

At one point I vaguely recall coming across a Mario version of this corset, however, it seems they are no longer selling it. The vendor on Etsy is selling a few classic cartoon inspired ones instead, if this Zelda one doesn’t suit you. One of which being Rainbow Brite, they also feature a classic Ninja Turtles dress. I currently own three different Ninja Turtles t-shirts as well as one of the original action figures, but that dress is a bit over the top, even for me.

The Zelda corset from the looks of the back of it, appears to be more of a cute corset than a functional one. Real corsets are strung slightly differently, so you won’t have to worry about gasping for air the entire day. All of the different corsets are being sold for $99.98.

Unfortunately for those that want both beauty and brains this gadget is a bit skimpy as far as specs go. When I say skimpy, I mean the site listed none.

They thankfully bothered to mention the built-in microphone and that it has a USB connection, however, they decided that the rest was apparently not all that important. I have occasionally been ok with wimpy specs on a cool design with certain gadgets, but I’d like to actually know what those specs are. It is being sold for about $36, a high price for a gadget that just looks pretty.

I usually scoff at portable speakers a little, but more and more I find situations where I’d love a set myself. I swear not in public transportation or anywhere else I’d subject the public to my taste in music, just in those random situations where my computer is not around and I’m tired of wearing earbuds.

It measures 6” x 4.5” x 2” and is sold in the blue shown above. It is also available for a decent price, being sold for $14. Sure it may not have stellar sound quality, but it works. Just plug the speakers into your MP3 player as usual.
You might be wondering why we geeks need special coasters and the answer is simple. It is merely, because we can, that’s why. These coasters are fashioned after the extremely outdated floppy disk.

I’ve seen other geeky coasters before, some made out of old recycled circuit boards, however, I do believe these are my new favorites. Yes, you could use real floppy disks and it would likely be cheaper, however, they might get a little wobbly after a while. Plus, these are cooler.

The coasters all measure 9cm x 9cm and have a special glossy finish and a foam base to keep your drink perfectly safe and secure. The discs come in sets of six that will set you back just over $40.

Don’t tell, but if it were cheaper I’d definitely hang it in my office above my desk. Making me feel super bad ass while playing some World of Warcraft. The light is adjustable as to how much light you want it to produce.

If you hang it low it will give off a nice soft glow, however, when hung higher it will give more direct light that shines through the clear bottom. The lamp is being sold for $100.

The Enter key is intended to become the symbol of your determination, the Shift key are for those that wish for a change, Esc key is to break away from captivity and the Ctrl key when pressed with other keys it performs specific functions. I know, that Ctrl key, the meaning is so incredibly deep. I had to rethink my life after that truly astounding translation.

The keys come in two different colors, either black or white. To get one of these incredibly geek chic cellphone charms it will only cost you $8 a piece.

You have to love all the unique gamer fashion that pops up from time to time. I have said several times that Etsy is a great place to find great gamer and geek fashion. This time there is the 1UP scarf as well as the Pac Man Ghost Scarf both from the seller UrbanPrincess.

At the time I was flipping through her products I happened to be sipping on a Mt. Dew and about had it come out my nose when I saw the price. Both of the one of a kind scarves are being sold for a whopping $150 a piece.

Personally, I would sweet talk someone with a bit of a crafty touch to make if for me. I might even fork out about $50 to get them to do it. However, $150 just seems like a bit much.

I came across Velvet Idole’s more chic laptop cases on a different blog. I decided to check out Velvet’s site only to discover that not only do they have chic handmade laptop cases, but space invader ones too. Then even better, they have the same styles for their iPod cases and PSP cases.

I always enjoy stumbling across geeky finds in the strangest of places, but it doesn’t happen all that often. They sell two different styles called Velvet Invadors, one is a lighter blue and one in red. They both have a slightly feminine twist to them.

Each one is $95.72, and the handmade styles are a bit more expensive of course. The iPod cases don’t list what sizes fit, but in the photo they show a 3rd generation iPod. The iPod case is being sold for $49.77 and the PSP cases are priced at $57.43. The only currently available sizes for the laptop case are 12, 14, 15 and 17-in. Of course the site not only shows an outdated iPod but under the sizes for laptops they also mention the iBook. However, I can overlook that fact since they have such pretty cases.

No one actually enjoys wearing one, but occasionally it becomes absolutely necessary. This binary code tie is just the way to rebel while still following the rules.

The tie decoded simply says ‘Ties Suck’ a statement that most people would indeed agree with. Even women have come to recognize ties are the male version of pointy toed high heals. Besides, we geeks cannot conform to the normal standards, we have to stand out somehow.

Likely no one will have any idea what the tie says, but at least you can feel exhilarated by secretly showing your distaste. To snag one of your own it will cost you $24.99.

I have been looking for months for a guitar strap to go with my collection of Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars. Unfortunately I always look for something completely off the wall and with a bit of geeky influence, which means it’s doubtful I’ll find one at the local music store. However, my search is finally over, this 8-Bit Guitar Strap is just the thing.

The guitar straps that come with the games are just way too boring. You have to have something that lets people know you’re a serious gamer, by whipping out your own personalized guitar.

The guitar straps come in two styles black sprites and blue sprites, blue of course being the best. The guitar strap will sadly set you back $32.95, which is about double what I originally wanted to pay.

The symbol is abstract and cool enough to blend in with even a non-geek environment. A lot of people still don’t recognize the symbol widely enough that they’ll likely just think it’s a quirky little bauble.

Sadly this particular necklace has already been sold, however, after reading through the info on the seller I noticed she states that if requested she may be able to recreate a certain piece of jewelry. This original one was sold for $12.

As a female geek I often notice situations that are strongly leaning toward the male geeks. In all fairness sometimes it does get exaggerated a bit by some, but it still does get obnoxious from time to time. Especially when suggested gift lists for girls suggest jewelry and clothes; then the guys is full of Palm Pilots and all kinds of cool toys. Which makes it highly refreshing when I saw this year’s Jinx gift list for both girl and guy geeks.

After looking over the links for the always entertaining geek fashion from J!NX, I noticed that both sides have plenty of gift ideas for geeks of either sex. I now have a Christmas list a mile long thanks to J!NX. Of course I don’t go for those subtle messages such as leaving a magazine clipping here and there for your significant other to find. I just make a list and tape it to their forehead, I tend to date guys so intelligent subtle hints somehow go right under the radar.

J!NX also has a few key chains, hats and stickers just in case you have your fill of geek t-shirts. I love that they not only have a gaming section, but a WoW gaming section on top of it. It just goes to show how much of a cult WoW has become, just don’t drink the kool-aid.

About a month ago my sister-in-law enthusiastically tried to con me into going to a party where they sit around and put teddy bear stamps on everything. I believe they call it a scrapbooking party, although she only came back with greeting cards. I of course turned her down flat, then again if I’d have had this stamp I might have considered it.

Alright, so it would be a cold day in hell before I’d do the girly scrapbooking routine but I’d at least give it a second thought. Even if I didn’t go to a party where you can stamp to your hearts desire, I would definitely cover my Christmas cards with these bad boys this year.

With every smiley face stamp you can bend the rubber to make it frown or just look way too excited. Each stamp is being sold at ThinkGeek for $5.99.

In more recent years I’ve become a bit of a Star Wars dork, I probably would have as a kid but I didn’t see the trilogy until about 6 years ago. I know, I was a sheltered child. These days though, I’m always a sucker for Star Wars inspired toys and gadgets. This computer mod definitely gives me that warm fuzzy feeling.

The mod even has even has engine light switches in the cockpit. The mouse is a bit cheesy though, its an X-Wing modded to make a wireless mouse. From looking at it, it seems uncomfortable to use. However, that’s just a preference thing really, it is a cool idea either way.

The maker used a VIA mini-ITX motherboard, two 2.5-inch hard drives with 256MB memory. To see more pictures just follow the link listed below.

This plush toy comes from a vendor on Etsy, they also have the Flying V Guitar in plush. It just depends on your preference. I’d likely choose the Wii just because I love the little skulls and crossbones. She also has the Gibson SG in red, pink and purple.

Each guitar is 20 inches in height and all are sold for $22. The guitar is made of skull and crossbones polyester waffle cloth knit, with a black polyester alpine fleece stem.

There is nothing quite like the geek furniture that is produced from games. Some of it is a bit more small and subtle and then others are completely impossible to blend in with the average home. This Wii cabinet may be a bit out there, but for die hard fans it’s perfect.

I am starting to have a hard time finding enough shelving for all of the games and game consoles I seem to have collected. I however, am still debating if I want to take the chic route, or just go all out in true geek style. After all if I got a more geeky cabinet it might blend in with my painting of a shrunken head and the comic book cover art work I have hanging up.

This cabinet was built by the owner’s father. I never would have guessed that this was a home-made project from the look of it.

The cuff links make me a little sad that I don’t really have a need for cuff links. I’m one of those weird girls that doesn’t own a guy’s dress shirt.

The unfortunate thing is that these cuff links don’t just look nice. They come with the price of a nicer set of cuff links. They are being sold for $150 per set.

If you miss all those retro Atari games, sometimes its nice to have a little something to remind you of the ‘good old days’. I’m sure I’ve said before, but Etsy is a great resource for original geek gear. This charm and earring set are a great example of that.

The earrings are a bit much for me and really they make my ears hurt a little just looking at them, but the charm is awesome. Charms are great because you can hang them from a chain around your neck or just turn them into a keychain.

The earring set is being sold for $5.65 and the charm is being sold for $3.25. Pointing out yet another reason I love Etsy, you can find quite a few things for under ten bucks.

This is a concept phone as of now, but it was created to allow for you to customize your phone to make it your own. You can take out the different squares and make just about any design your heart desires.

Limited edition designs could also feature precious metal and gems. Giving you the more high-end look. Hopefully the actual product wouldn’t come in that creepy gold look. Plus there might be a slight issue with some of those squares collecting pocket lint and dirt.
