PC market down — Apple, Lenovo, HP are all up

By and large, we’re not interested in PCs as much as we used to be. A recent study by Gartner suggests the PC market took a dip once again, with sales slipping 1.3% over this time last year. While the lump-sum “Others” are largely at fault, even Dell saw their numbers take a hit, dropping 3.8% versus Q1 2014. Others are surprisingly up, though, with Lenovo leading the charge, gaining 13.5% over last year. Apple also made significant headway, proving the changes made to their Macs are having positive effects.

Gartner shows Android tablets overtake iPad on world market

This week the folks at Gartner have released their worldwide tablet sales charts for the full year of 2013, showing Android on the rise. This is the first year since the iPad was released that Gartner has shown Apple to be selling fewer tablets than the entire Android ecosystem. Back in 2012, Android had just 45.8% of the tablet market while iOS (with the iPad only) had 52.8% of the market.

PC sales down again in last quarter of 2013, reports Gartner

PC sales had a bad run in 2013, with Gartner having reported poor shipments numbers throughout the year. Now that 2013 has come to an end, the final numbers are in, and it turns out 2013 was the worst year in the market's history, in terms of sales declining. Overall, the fourth-quarter PC shipments dropped 6.9-percent, coming in at 82.6 million units shipped globally.
