GameStop to halt PS2 trade-ins starting June 1

In what we're guessing is a move to prepare for the PlayStation 4 rush, GameStop has announced that they will begin the process of clearing out PlayStation 2 inventory by halting all trade-ins of PlayStation 2 games and equipment beginning June 1. GameStop has been operating a trade-in program for electronics for a while now. This program allows you to trade-in gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, and MP3 players that you no longer need for store credit. PlayStation 4 demand will reportedly outpace supplies at launch

There is speculation going around that the demand for the PlayStation 4 will outpace the available supply for the console system at launch. Gamestop stated that around 900,000 of its members have signed up for its "PlayStation 4 First To Know List". While it's more of a pre-registration than it is pre-orders, Gamestop says that its lists are usually a "strong indicator" for the number of people planning on pre-ordering the device. Banning Used Games Is A Deal-Breaker

Let me say this loud and clear: any game console that tries to block used games will fail. And I, along with other gamers, will be happy to see it.

Over the last year or so, we’ve been hearing rumors that Microsoft’s next console, currently codenamed Durango, could ban used games. Microsoft, of course, hasn’t said anything on the matter, deciding instead to keep its plans close to the vest until it finally has the chance to unveil the device to the world. But the steady drumbeat of claims that the console won’t support used games is concerning.

Retailers already launching pre-orders for PlayStation 4

It's only been a few days since the PlayStation 4 was officially announced, but retailers are already beginning to take pre-orders for the gaming console. In the United Kingdom, Game Retail Limited, and ShopTo are already taking pre-orders for the gaming console. With a small deposit, customers are able to reserve the PS4 just in time for the holidays. Analyst: Wii U underperformed at GameStop during holiday season

5-year-old’s Nintendo 3DS Christmas gift filled with porn

Five-year-old Braydon Giles received a refurbished Nintendo 3DS for Christmas, which his father, Mark, purchased from GameStop. Unfortunately for all involved, the device wasn't properly wiped of its previous owner's content, which included porn. They're offering the Kindle Fire HD 7-inch tablet for $199.99 at all 4,400 stores, and the non-HD 7-inch version and the 8.9-inch HD for $159.99 and $299.99, respectively, "at select stores."
