Rovio’s Mighty Eagle to Appear in Death Rally GDC 2011 iOS Destruction Derby Game

, Mar 7th 2011 Discuss [0]

I suppose you could call this game more of a race and kill game, along the lines of Twisted Metal, if you know what I mean - does it sound like the kind of game you'd be seeing birds flying around in? Heck no! That's why we found it utterly baffling when @Rovio spoke of "Mighty Eagle" aka the pay-for-help element in the original Angry Birds game appearing here in this new game for iOS, a remake of the 1996 original, Death Rally GDC 2011. Thusly your humble narrator inquired on what the heck was going on, to which we received word that Angry Birds wouldn't be appearing in the game, but that Mighty Eagle would, aiding players in their tasks at hand. Oh eagle! Why weren't you around when I was trying to beat Final Fantasy 7!? Not even born yet. Read The Full Story

Duke Nukem Forever Collectors Edition Revealed

, Feb 11th 2011 Discuss [0]

For those of you wishing there wouldn't have been a gigantic span of around 12 years between now and the last Duke Nukem title, here's a little present for your wait. This is the Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel Edition that'll be coming out the same time as the standard edition comes out for the low low price of $99.99. It might seem a tad high for a game that's basically a shooter from the late 1990's, but can you really put a price on a bust of one of the most offensive video game characters of all time? Apple TV to Support Gaming?

, Feb 10th 2011 Discuss [2]

Strings inside Apple's iOS 4.3 beta firmware that'll be used on Apple TV have been shown to display clues leading to one possibility: the ability to play games on Apple TV without having to jailbreak first. An anonymous tipster speaking with Engadget has revealed the following references: "ATVGames" and "ATVThunder," both of them inside iOS 4.3 beta 3, as well as "com.apple.appletv.play.live.thunder" and ".play.archive.thunder." What's all that junk mean? It might be nothing of too much interest, but what these tipsters may have found are clues to a controller, a set of game leaderboards, a way to schedule games, and a storefront. Read The Full Story

iPad Game for White Tigers Mimics Kitten Mittens Vibe

, Feb 4th 2011 Discuss [5]

This is one of those bits of content that I think noone saw coming. This video and explanation for an app just showed up in our mailbox and despite, or perhaps because of it's utterly unbelievable preview video, it is amazing. The name of the app that the following wacky commercial is about is "Game for Cats." Sound good so far? No? Sounds kind of weird and for cat people, people who love cats? Do press on. Nintendo Sticks Head in the Sand, Pretends Social Media isn’t Happening

, Jan 31st 2011 Discuss [0]

Nintendo has a bad habit of ignoring big threats until they become implacable foes. The latest goof? President Satoru Iwata attempted to allay investor's fears about social media games like FarmVille. He didn't do it by announcing a new Nintendo Facebook game or social networking service. Instead, he said this: "Nintendo has been developing social entertainment in the field of video games for a long time."

Zynga Continues Domination by Transforming Area/Code into New York Studio

, Jan 21st 2011 Discuss [0]

That's right, they've assimilated game designers "Area/Code" and have begun to add their biological and technological distinctiveness to their own. This New York group will now become Zynga New York. Social gaming will now commence with a very ironic conglomerating of many design groups into one. Zynga also has offices in Boston, San Francisco, Beijing, Austin, Tokyo, Frankfurt, and Dallas. Each of these locations, other than San Francisco, were once smaller games companies that have now been swallowed by, (not dismantled, as other eviler companies might have done,) by Zynga.
