For those of you already in possession of the now price-slashed Nintendo hand-held 3D gaming unit, you should know that even though Nintendo has apologized for the cost reduction to early adopters who’d payed more in the first place, Nintendo may indeed be taking a loss on every unit BUT they’re not giving up yet! As evidenced by the flame red 3DS and the oncoming release of flagship game Star Fox 64 3D as well as what’s been announced today: a trade event in September centered around the Nintendo 3DS gaming unit.

Quake 3 Video Game Challenge Laid Down with “Scrolls” Name as Prize

So there's this guy by the name of Notch, aka Markus "Notch" Persson, he's one of the original creators of the massively popular game Minecraft. Notch's developer group Mojang is currently in a trademark dispute with another group of developers by the name of Bethesda Softworks. The latter has threatened to sue the former because Mojang's new game by the name of "Scrolls" apparently doesn't seem far enough away from Bethesda's "The Elder Scrolls," a trademarked name they currently own. What Notch of Mojang here is suggesting is that a team of his best "warriors" and a team of Bethesda's best "warriors" go head to head in the first-person-shooter game Quake 3, the winner dropping their side of the dispute. Nintendo 3DS Price Cut to $169.99 Today

Whenever there's a price cut of such a magnitude for a device of such importance as the Nintendo 3DS, one would expect there to be a new device coming out OR for the company selling the device in question to be in some sort of big trouble. What we're looking at here instead is a price cut before a brand new color combination is released for the casing on this device. This leads us to believe that either Nintendo had always planned to lower the price to this point immediately before the Flame Red color release OR both the color combination and the price point are now in place to make a renewed move for higher sales in the face of a sinking traditional games market. Rovio Launches Angry Birds Mooncakes and Barrage of Additional Products

In celebration of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival - otherwise known as the Moon Festival, Rovio has decided to release some signature shaped Angry Birds Mooncakes alongside a series of new products. Also, incase you were unaware, Angry Birds Seasons' next update will be "Moon Festival," again in celebration of the same holiday taking place in China this Fall. The mooncakes are available in Chinese confectionary stores now in custom male/female bags which are reusable then by the average super-chic kiddo who might want to bring their home-made lunch to school in bright red. These cakes also reveal a lady version of the classic red bird, this perhaps pointing toward a new type of bird to be slingshot in the future Seasons expansions. Read The Full Story

Counter Strike Expansion “Global Offensive” Launching inside 2012

One of the most popular 3rd party modifications of a game in history, Counter-Strike has now been a legitimate stand-alone game series now for almost 10 years. What began as first-person shooter PC game Half-Life was transformed in 1999 to a game of terrorists and counter-terrorists, one side's objective to set and protect a bomb, the other's side to disarm the bomb. Diablo III Beta Gameplay Video Preview Released

Several gaming publishers have been granted license today to release a new video preview of Diablo III, one of the most widely anticipated and longest-waited-for games in the history of MMORPGs, in its beta form. This Preview features each of the different playable character classes including the classic Barbarian followed by the Witch Doctor, Demon Hunter, Wizard, and Monk. This video mainly shows the masses of different spells and abilities available in this newest installment of Diablo, but also goes into Followers - the NPC allies you'll be able to work with in your journey through the environments overrun with demons in your journey towards the end. Nintendo Possibly Taking a Loss on Every 3DS Unit Sold

Yesterday many things were revealed about Nintendo, facts about their abysmal earnings this past quarter, the fact that they had "few hit titles," and of course, most importantly, that the price of the Nintendo 3DS had been slashed to $170 from its original $250. Upon further analysis of the earnings call just hours ago, Nintendo's CEO Saturo Iwata appears to have revealed that the gaming company may be taking a loss on every 3DS unit sold with the cut. While some reports have Iwata saying that Nintendo's price cut for the 3DS was necessary and would improve the company's balance sheets this year and next, others have reported that he, in one set of words or another, said that Nintendo is now taking a loss on ever 3DS unit sold. Xbox 360 Media Remote and Bluetooth Wireless Headset Announced

It's time for some more Xbox bits and pieces! Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson, aka Larry Hyrb has a personal message for you in the video below, showing off the headset side of this equation, letting you know that the "Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth" will be available November 2011, just in time for the holidays, and it'll be US ERP (estimated retail price) at $59.99. This device, says Hyrb, will go on to replace the current Xbox 360 Wireless Headset, but whether or not that means the original headset will cease to work / degrade / explode into flames in November is still yet to be seen.
