We’re all waiting anxiously for next year’s arrival of BioShock Infinite, but if you have yet to play any game in the series, then boy does GameFly have a deal for you. GameFly is currently giving away PC copies of the original BioShock for free. If you haven’t played it yet, we highly recommend you take advantage of this offer, as BioShock is easily one of the best games of this generation – there’s a reason everyone is so excited for BioShock Infinite, you know.

This promotion doesn’t have a solid end date, but GameFly does clarify that it can only give away so many copies. Therefore, it’s probably a good idea to download yours sooner rather than later, otherwise you might miss out. You’ll have to sign up for a GameFly account to get your copy, but as far as we can tell, the sign up process is free and doesn’t require that you sign up for any monthly plans.

Of course, there’s a good chance that you’ve already play BioShock, considering it launched to rave reviews back in 2007 and has been the focus of many sales since then. It actually runs for $20 normally on Steam, so you can save a decent chunk of change by picking it up for free over at GameFly. What better way to excited for BioShock Infinite than with a free copy of the game that started it all?

Keep in mind that BioShock is only available from GameFly in the US, Canada, and Mexico, so if you’re not living in one of those countries, you’re sadly out of luck. If you happen to miss out on this deal, never fear, as we’re sure it won’t be long before BioShock is knocked down to five bucks once again in a Steam sale. Will you be downloading a free copy of BioShock from GameFly?

There’s a new Android gaming group in town, as GameFLy would have you believe, and they’re set to take on those best known for having their own dedicated gaming portal, NVIDIA with their TegraZone, asap! This announcement comes at a time when mobile gaming for smartphones and tablets is on the quick rise and both iOS and Android have gigantic markets for the entertainment-loving youth of the world. GameFLy’s new GameStore will be launched for Android first and foremost and both iOS and Android will be getting GameFLy games in the near future.

This announcement is set to take on not only NVIDIA’s TegraZone but Qualcomm’s fledgling Snapdragon GameCommand as well. Both systems hold games that are actually hosted by Google’s Google Play App Store so that they might push optimized titles for their own processors while still benefitting from the overarching security and ease in use that the Google Play store offers up.

“GameFly is dedicated to giving consumers the best user experience possible, and to be their single destination for console, PC and mobile gaming needs. We plan to be a leading player in mobile games by launching our retail GameStore for Android and helping to fund mobile developers of all sizes to publish, promote and sell their smartphone and tablet games.” – Sean Spector, GameFly co-founder and SVP of Business Development and Content

GameFLy will be working with developers of all kinds with a brand new Game Development Fund they’ve set aside for up and coming developers from around the country and the world. To get in on this lovely new situation, you the developer must simply contact GameDev@GameFly.com via email. This project will expand on GameFLy’s already massive market and history of success with 8,000 console and handheld gaming system titles along with 1,500 PC-specific games as well.

Head over to GameFly.com now to check out their Application for iPhone, iPad, and Android – and note that this is not yet the GameStore they’re promising for these mobile devices, it’s still just an indexing app for their console, PC, and handheld games. The GameFLy GameStore is coming soon!

It appears that AMD is bringing the heat back to the world of gaming, or at least some pointed focus, with a deal they’ve struck with GameFly. This online video game rental and PC download service has a membership program which will be given for free (for 30-days) to purchasers of any of several new AMD processor packs. This membership also includes a 20 percent discount on brand new PC game purchases via GameFly’s own PC store.

It is with great pleasure the AMD crew offers this fabulous deal up with any of the following: AMD A-Series APUs, AMD Athlon II CPUs, AMD Phenom II CPUs, or AMD FX Series CPUs – select models of each, of course. GameFly is certainly up for a new partnership here and there, and with AMD’s support in the form of hardcore gaming enthusiasts being ushered into their ranks, they can expect some hot growth in the coming season. AMD is also pointing toward their AMD Gaming Evolved program here whose mantra is none other than “Gamers Come First!”

What AMD and GameFly have to prove now is that not only are they both dedicated to bringing sweet games and sweet gaming to the world for PC users. They’ve got to show these users that the games work fantastically with the AMD processors they’ve just purchased. Of course one goes hand-in-hand with the other. It just makes sense!

If you were waiting for the day when you could watch Family Guy on your iPad, pop Indiana Jones into your DVD player, and wait for the latest Call of Duty game to appear in your mailbox, all while only logging into one online account, your dreams have been quashed. Specifically, the Call of Duty part. Video streaming giant Netflix has dismissed its plans to add video game titles to its mail-order rental library.

The announcement came during this week’s quarterly earnings conference call. The call had an ultimately positive vibe to it, as Netflix managed to gain back 600,000 of the 800,000 subscribers it lost in the previous quarter. The quarter in question was the first time the online company saw a dip in its user base.

The last time Netflix entertained the idea of adding video games to its mix was in October, when CEO Reed Hastings was quoted as saying there were still internal discussions about its viability. But the truth is Gamefly has a very strong stranglehold on that market, and there is already competition from Blockbuster Online, as well as Redbox kiosks. For streaming content, which is the direction Netflix is clearly heading, there’s OnLive, and there’s no way Netflix would invest in the resources necessary to compete in that nascent market. So for now, your remote lives with Netflix and your joystick lives with Gamefly. Those streams will not cross any time soon.
