Sony Vita OS Review

, Feb 21st 2012 Discuss [13]

This week we’re getting our first look at the Sony PS Vita, a device which is set to be officially set in stores for sale tomorrow, and the first live version of Vita OS. What the Vita operating system represents is not only a new look at handheld gaming, but the prospect of an operating system that is all Sony’s own, and as Chris Davies will tell you, one that’s more than ready to take on more screens than just the PS Vita. What we’ll do here for you is run down and review the operating system on its own as well as specifically as it exists here in its first iteration: on the PS Vita portable PlayStation certified gaming system from Sony.

Pokemon Fake removed from App Store while fans remain stalwart

, Feb 21st 2012 Discuss [6]

This week there's been a proverbial firestorm surrounding the undeniably massive amount of downloads of a Pokemon Yellow fake app in the iTunes App Store. Now it's been taken down (because it was fake, and for the most part didn't work), but the fans looking to actually have a working copy of Pokemon for their iPhone remain wanting. It's a matter of Nintendo not wanting to get in to the mobile world outside of their own cartridge-based gaming systems, and because Pokemon is a massive hero game for the Nintendo line of devices, fans have been and will continue to be waiting for quite some time for an official release. Gabe Newell of Valve speaks of futuristic Wearable Computers

, Feb 20th 2012 Discuss [4]

This week at the games portal the world knows best as a comic, Penny Arcade, Valve's own Gabe Newell spoke on many things in an interview, perhaps most interestingly of all on experiments he's been doing with wearable computers. It's not that long ago, he noted, that what was called the "wearable computer" was a growing industry, or at least a possibility for a market sometime in the future. Since those days, whenever those days may have been, law suits were filed for exploding computer body suits, nothing solid ended up really coming together during the popularity wave of the wearable computer, and they all but fizzled out - but they still exist, he insists, and they're about to be better than they ever were before. Temple Run for Android to be announced via Facebook

, Feb 20th 2012 Discuss [30]

The game known as Temple Run is only 6 months old and is already one of the most downloaded games in the history of iOS* - and it's time for the Android version. Believe it or not, one of the top search terms in our system right this minute is none other than "Temple Run Android", so we've decided to do a bit more digging than we normally would for a game release. What's turned up is a promise by the folks responsible for the Temple Run game, developers from Imangi Studios, that the release date will be dropped nowhere else but their own Facebook Group. PSA: PokeMon apps for iPhone and Android are fake

, Feb 20th 2012 Discuss [4]

This week the fact that a illegitimate clone of the game PokeMon Yellow (the special Pikachu edition, that is) is busting up the charts in the iTunes App Store charts for most popular download. While the game might download decently, you should note that the vast majority of people who have fallen for the promise of a PokeMon mobile game have found the game to not work in the slightest beyond the start screen. The same is true of Android with any app you download at the moment with the PokeMon name on it: Nintendo has not yet brought the game to the market, so whatever you're downloading - it's not the real deal. Angry Birds: Space ties with NASA and National Geographic

, Feb 20th 2012 Discuss [1]

Rovio's teaser this past week of the newest Angry Birds release to be known as Angry Birds: Space has this week been given a PR boost by none other than NASA and National Geographic! In an interview with Yahoo Games, Rovio North America general manager had a bit more information on the game, especially in regards to what the game will hold for gameplay. We'd hypothesized that Angry Birds: Space would have at least one launch partner, Samsung's Galaxy Note being amongst them, but now it looks more like Rovio will be going to space much more literally! Dash Race for iPhone Review

, Feb 17th 2012 Discuss [1]

The game Dash Race is just about the most unique racing game you’re going to find on any platform – and I say that having played my fair share. What you’ll do in this iPhone-based pencil and grid racing game is draw lines from one square to the next, each player taking turns to see who can best the other in their mathematically calculated set of turns and straightaways. This game is derived from a game that you may have played while wasting time between classes in high school – in this case you won’t have to do any of the calculating yourself (unless of course you want to.)

Angry Birds Space teased, may land with Galaxy S III

, Feb 17th 2012 Discuss [10]

The next generation of Angry Birds is right around the corner - a phrase we could say basically any day of the month. But this time it's true insofar as they've announced a brand new concept: Angry Birds Space. This will be an entirely separate game just like Angry Birds Seasons is separate from Angry Birds Rio, and not one whole heck of a lot of information has been revealed thus far. There's a very short teaser out already, and the logo has dropped, but other than that, we're expecting lots of gravity modifications. Read The Full Story

Android users beware: Temple Run scams galore

, Feb 17th 2012 Discuss [66]

For those of you waiting to play the ultra-popular game Temple Run on your Android device, beware: it's not out yet, and if you've downloaded what you think is an official game, you've been scammed. There have been several Temple Run impersonators sitting on the market over the past couple of weeks, and there are some pretty awesome temple run genre games out there such as iRunner, but the real deal Temple Run is now yet on the market. Those of you working with iOS on your iPhone or iPad - there's a different story entirely. Read The Full Story
