Samsung schedules Unpacked August 13th: Note 5 ahoy!

This week is bringing events from a few big companies, but Samsung is not one of them. Instead, the Korean company will be having its next event in mid-August, but before that it has started teasing what we can expect. The company fired out some invites today, announcing that it will be showing off its next big thing on August 13, and it followed the invites with an animated teaser on its Twitter account -- we see rolling lines, and they (probably) mean there's another curved display inbound.

Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 arrive with svelte all-metal unibody

Rumors can be put to rest, with Samsung introducing the new Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 handsets tonight. The phones come in a rainbow of colors, each sporting a full metal unibody and the design we saw leak earlier this month. The two handsets are largely the same, differing the most with their displays (5-inches and 4.5-inches, respectively) and their cameras, though the A5 does pack an additional gig of RAM. Selfies have been given some special attention by Samsung, as well, which packed the handsets with several features aiding in snapping the best shots of yourself.

There’s little doubt now that the device that thus far has been called Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be appearing either this Wednesday or on the 3rd of September. It’s a strange entry into the Samsung Galaxy lineup, bringing on a metal edge (similar to the Galaxy Note 4) and specifications that are similar to its slightly larger sibling, the Galaxy S5. A Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 stopped a bullet this week as a man had a friendly disagreement with another citizen in the streets of Xinfeng Township, Hsinchu County, Taiwan*. The altercation involved a wallet being dropped by the first man, the second man picking it up for him and joking about spending his cash, the first man pulling a gun, and the second man pulling a knife.
