How big is too big? It’s an important question when you’re looking at the Samsung Infuse 4G, AT&T’s latest HSPA+ smartphone and a device that’s as sizable face-on as it is slender from the side. A close relative of the much-loved Galaxy S II, it also uses Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus display technology, only now stretched to a whopping 4.5-inches. More to love, or too much to handle? Back at the beginning of May, we had gotten an invitation to a Samsung Mobile event in New York on May 24th. After the Infuse 4G was announced on May 5th, we had hoped to see either the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the Galaxy S II being announced at this event. But today, we received a terse message letting us know that the event has been postponed to "a later date".

Good news this morning, with Verizon's 4G LTE back online in time for the launch of the DROID Charge. But this is a black eye for Verizon, casting doubt on the reliability of their network, and leaving subscribers to wonder why they had to use a workaround to get 3G. We have a hands-on of the new white iPhone 4 that Chris Davies visited with in London, complete with a video and a comparison to the Samsung Galaxy S II. Also, users that had manually updated their Nook Color found their e-reader bricked after the 1.2 update was installed. No word yet on a fix, just that "engineers are investigating the issue". It’s pretty good timing for Verizon’s DROID Charge by Samsung to arrive today, just when our Samsung Galaxy S II review goes live. Both smartphones share a couple of important features, most notably the 4.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display. Unlike the previous AMOLED and Super AMOLED technology, the new Super AMOLED Plus allows you to see the display much better out in sunlight thanks to 50-percent more sub-pixels (this means twelve sub-pixels instead of eight). Looking at the display makes us want to weep like a 12-year old boy on Christmas morning. The Droid Charge has LTE to differentiate it, the second 4G smartphone to Verizon’s line-up. If you are a fan of Samsung Android smartphones Engadget has landed a leaked roadmap for Three UK that shows a new device coming this summer that might be appealing to some folks. The new smartphone is called the Samsung Galaxy S II Mini. The smartphone is pegged for an April launch according to the roadmap.

NVIDIA has confirmed that its slick and powerful Tegra 2 SoC will be crammed inside of some of the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphones. You might have seen the video we posted up a while back of the smartphone when we got to spend a bit of hands on time with the thing. I wonder if the unit we played with was a Tegra 2 device or if it has the other processor option.

Good news, Samsung fans. The Galaxy S II will not lack for HDMI. While the new flagship Android smartphone has no HDMI-out, it will be the first smartphone with an MHL port. This port is capable of acting as both a USB port, and HDMI-out. Users will only need a special microUSB-to-HDMI cable in order to connect their phone to their TV or monitor or whatever.
