Galaxy Note 5 release may see price cuts to S6 and Edge

Samsung is set to reveal the Galaxy Note 5 on the 13th of August, and along with it, price "adjustments" for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Speaking this week on their Q2 2015 earnings, Samsung suggested that they'll be adjusting, or dropping, that is to say, prices for their two hero smartphones. This is due to the less-than-stellar sales of both devices, and likely a prepared punch to the events set to take place in the middle of next month, right alongside the Note and the larger S6 Edge Plus.

Final Galaxy Note 5 images release herald August event

Today images of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have appeared in their final form, looking just about as near-official as they're going to get. While these are still renderings - much in the same way all smartphone companies release renderings for ad material - they're as close to the real deal as you're going to see for the moment, just a few weeks away from the real thing. Here the Galaxy Note 5 is looking pretty spiffy, complete with an industrial design finesse matched only by the Galaxy S6 Edge, its little sibling.

Galaxy Note 5 vs Note 4: details and spec-war pre-release

Galaxy Note 5 vs Note 4: details and spec-war pre-release

Pitting the Galaxy Note 5 against its most recent predecessor, the Galaxy Note 4, we see a device that gets a rather interesting kick in the specs. While the device's basic premise doesn't change - it's still a big phone with a Samsung-made unique stylus inside - the design gets a reboot. Taking after its closest cousin, the Galaxy S6, the detailing on this smartphone becomes refined. Glass instead of plastic, and a return of the metal rim. Now that the form is moving toward elegance rather than worker-friendly, will Note consumers stay the course?

Galaxy Note 5 might have microSD card slot after all

Galaxy Note 5 might have microSD card slot after all

It seems that Samsung might have finally heard users' prayers. At least for now. And at least based on an unverified, and probably unintentional, data source. The User Agent Profile of a major US carrier's website has seemingly spilled the beans on the specs of the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 as well as the Galaxy S6 edge Plus. And while it mostly confirms what we've been hearing about these two to no end, it adds one juicy tidbit that everyone wants to hear: a microSD card slot.

Galaxy S6 Edge Plus detailed with in-store photos

Today we get to see the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in all its pre-release glory. This device is the next in a line of unique Samsung devices with displays that spill over the edge of the phone. While the first "Edge" was a Galaxy Note, this device gets rid of the S Pen and sticks closer to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the most successful (of the two) Edge devices thus far. This device is as large as a Galaxy Note, but keeps the details of the Galaxy S6, providing a sort of hybrid device for public consumption.

Galaxy Note 5 specs leak anew: 4GB RAM, 5 MP OIS front cam

If the previous rumors are correct, we might actually get to see Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 and possibly a Galaxy S6 edge Plus next month, which could explain the rising tide of leaks and rumors surrounding these smartphones. This latest round paints an almost complete picture of the Galaxy Note 5, especially its internals. Unsurprisingly, it will showcase Samsung's newest, and sometimes experimental, tech. But there are also a few surprises in store, like its front-facing camera and what could be an Edge model as well.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 details leaked: GS6 eclipsed

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 details leaked: GS6 eclipsed

Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 has been revealed in early images depicting the device as a very close hardware relative of the Galaxy S6. This means glass back, a rounded metal rim, and a very high quality camera. In the images of cases as posted (likely out of embargo) to auction sites internationally and passed on to SlashGear anonymously, we see that this device is just as similar to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 4 was to the Galaxy S5. One mirrors and out-does the other.
