Stagefright patches hitting Galaxy S5, Note 4, Note Edge on T-Mobile & Verizon

While Google's Nexus devices have already been confirmed to be some of the first phones to get patched for the recent Android vulnerability Stagefright, other major devices, especially Samsung's flagships, are still at risk. While there's still no word on when the company's newest models, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will get updated, a number of their older phones are getting fixes today from carriers Verizon and T-Mobile, including the Galaxy S5, Note 4, and Note Edge.

Final Galaxy Note 5 images release herald August event

Final Galaxy Note 5 images release herald August event

Today images of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have appeared in their final form, looking just about as near-official as they're going to get. While these are still renderings - much in the same way all smartphone companies release renderings for ad material - they're as close to the real deal as you're going to see for the moment, just a few weeks away from the real thing. Here the Galaxy Note 5 is looking pretty spiffy, complete with an industrial design finesse matched only by the Galaxy S6 Edge, its little sibling.

Galaxy Note 5, Gear A, Edge may add up to Samsung’s biggest Unpacked yet

Galaxy Note 5, Gear A, Edge may add up to Samsung’s biggest Unpacked yet

Earlier today Samsung sent out invitations to an event that'll have three devices (at least) released to the masses. Just following Motorola's event today and before Apple's event later this year, the "Galaxy" giant will more than likely be revealing two smartphones and at least one smartwatch. Given the amount of rumors, leaks, and tips we've received over the past few weeks, we can't help but wonder if Samsung's secrets have all been revealed already. And if they have, is that going to be just fine with potential consumers?

Galaxy Note 5 vs Note 4: details and spec-war pre-release

Galaxy Note 5 vs Note 4: details and spec-war pre-release

Pitting the Galaxy Note 5 against its most recent predecessor, the Galaxy Note 4, we see a device that gets a rather interesting kick in the specs. While the device's basic premise doesn't change - it's still a big phone with a Samsung-made unique stylus inside - the design gets a reboot. Taking after its closest cousin, the Galaxy S6, the detailing on this smartphone becomes refined. Glass instead of plastic, and a return of the metal rim. Now that the form is moving toward elegance rather than worker-friendly, will Note consumers stay the course?

Galaxy Note 5 release date, specs, 4GB RAM, curved backside [UPDATE]

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be curved, but not in the place you'd expect. The Galaxy Note 5 be launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus - a device with a curved front display, likely at an event this August. Instead of having a curved display itself, the Galaxy Note 5 will have a curved backside, perfect for the edges of your palm. In this way the device will seem thinner than before while it maintains a metal frame and innards to stay tough.

Galaxy S6 Edge Plus detailed with in-store photos

Galaxy S6 Edge Plus detailed with in-store photos

Today we get to see the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in all its pre-release glory. This device is the next in a line of unique Samsung devices with displays that spill over the edge of the phone. While the first "Edge" was a Galaxy Note, this device gets rid of the S Pen and sticks closer to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the most successful (of the two) Edge devices thus far. This device is as large as a Galaxy Note, but keeps the details of the Galaxy S6, providing a sort of hybrid device for public consumption.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus detail rundown

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus detail rundown

Leaks aplenty have lent themselves to the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. This device is the next in a line of devices that come with curved edges - more than one, to be clear - in both standard and larger screen sizes. While the first Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was extremely similar to its size sibling, the Galaxy Note 4, this Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is sure to shake things up. This isn't going to be a curved Note, it's going to be a big S6.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 details leaked: GS6 eclipsed

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 details leaked: GS6 eclipsed

Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 has been revealed in early images depicting the device as a very close hardware relative of the Galaxy S6. This means glass back, a rounded metal rim, and a very high quality camera. In the images of cases as posted (likely out of embargo) to auction sites internationally and passed on to SlashGear anonymously, we see that this device is just as similar to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 4 was to the Galaxy S5. One mirrors and out-does the other.

Galaxy Note 5 Edge is better off S Pen-less

Galaxy Note 5 Edge is better off S Pen-less

Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 Edge edition is tipped to be released without the standard S Pen. This follows well with feedback from commenters on their experience with the S Pen and the first Galaxy Edge, as slipping off the bend isn't all that uncommon. A much larger edition of the Galaxy S6 Edge is what this new Galaxy Note 5 Edge would be, with two edges like its smaller relative and no S Pen inside. A simple way to move beyond the required stylus, or a mistake waiting to happen?

Milk Video Review – Samsung’s YouTube

Milk Video Review – Samsung’s YouTube

While it might seem strange to call Milk Video "Samsung's YouTube" since it contains actual YouTube content, know this: it's what this software feels like that counts. Over the past few weeks I've been using Samsung's Milk Video on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 regularly. Once I received a Samsung Galaxy S6 for review over on Android Community, I began using Milk Video there as well. Of this I'm sure: once you get past the idea that you're no longer in your video comfort zone, Samsung's work with Milk Video shines.
