Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Review – Side-screen side eye

Using the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is an exercise in obsession with using the biggest and the newest in smartphone tech. Instead, like the original Galaxy Note, this device presents a unique method of delivering you your smartphone-family software in a piece of hardware that's extremely well made. If you want to experiment with a new kind of hardware, Samsung proves here that they're the company you're going to want to do it with.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Note Edge camera

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Note Edge camera

When we first saw the Galaxy Note 4 at a Samsung conference earlier this year, Samsung also showed us the Galaxy Note Edge. At that time, it wasn't entirely apparent - they're said to come with the same cameras. Since then, we've put them to the test. Some devices perform VERY different from one another even though they're supposed to have the same hardware - can Samsung stay true to its word here?

Report: Note Edge, Note 4 to get Lollipop upgrade

The Samsung Note 4 and Note Edge have a lot of similarities. Under the hood, the two are nearly identical. Face-forward, the story changes quite a bit. The rounded screen on the Note Edge is a neat add-on, but many wonder how it will hold up to the Android upgrade cycle. As it turns out, you may have nothing to worry about. A new report suggests Samsung will update both the Note 4 and Note Edge to Android 5.0 Lollipop soon.

Verizon Galaxy Note 4 gets the Gear VR update

Verizon Galaxy Note 4 gets the Gear VR update

This morning - just one day after the Gear VR started arriving on user doorsteps - the Verizon version of the Galaxy Note 4 got its requisite Gear VR software update. It's amazing. It's stupendous. It's almost unheard of. Mostly because Verizon is notoriously slow in bringing updates to devices once they've been submitted to them by manufacturers. Between this and the Verizon Moto X Lollipop update, we're thinking we might be taking crazy pills. Or that Verizon's update process is changing - either way!

Gear VR headset released with AT&T and Samsung

This week the folks at Samsung have pushed their Gear VR virtual reality headset to the public as an Innovator Edition. This is akin to the Explorer Edition of Google Glass in that it's not necessarily meant to be a consumer device in the traditional sense. You can buy this VR headset for use with your Galaxy Note 4 through AT&T starting December 12th or straight through Samsung starting this week. This device works with the Galaxy Note 4 exclusively - and you'll need one to make this headset do anything.

Video: Galaxy Note 4 running early Lollipop build

Android Lollipop, as we know, is slowly rolling out. Google has distanced themselves a bit from the timing of the latest Android OS hitting your device, and that’s for their phones. If you’ve got a Note 4 from Samsung, we’ve got good news for you: a new video shows Lollipop running on your device. We gotta say, it looks awesome.

Galaxy S6: Samsung may make a whole new phone category

Like the Galaxy Note, Samsung has been tipped to be bringing on a whole new category of smart device with the Galaxy S6 next year. While we've seen some small moves toward a release like this with the Galaxy A lineup - metal rims, and all that - the next collection of Samsung smartphone-like devices could very well open up a whole new door. Sound like the rebirth the Samsung needs to stay on track as the top Android smartphone company in the world?

Samsung Gear Circle release set for USA

Samsung Gear Circle release set for USA

There's a device called the Samsung Gear Circle out there in the wild today - have you heard of it? It's not gotten one whole heck of a lot of press thus far. Mostly because it's not a smartphone, it's not a smart watch, and it's not part of a category of devices that gets much innovation all that often. The Samsung Gear Circle is a pair of earbuds - sort of. This pair of earbuds is meant to be worn as a necklace, and at any time.

iPhone 6, 6 Plus outpace Note 4 preorders in South Korea

iPhone 6, 6 Plus outpace Note 4 preorders in South Korea

In their home country of South Korea, Samsung reigns supreme. They get quite a bit of competition from LG, but by and large, Samsung is top dog at home. That reign may come to an end, though, if the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus preorders are any indication. Early returns suggest the iPhone 6 and its larger counterpart will compete for control of the high end South Korean smartphone market. According to several retailers, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus preorders are outshining the Note 4 in a big way.
