Concept Wall-Mounted Washing Machine Probably Too Good to be True

, Jul 19th 2010 Discuss [0]

This is probably one of those concepts that, unfortunately, won't ever make it past the concept stage. As big, bulky, and loud as our current generation of washing machines are (even if some of them are remarkably quiet, you get the point), seeing something as super thin, and lightweight enough to hang on a wall is pretty cool in of itself. Of course, there's a few questions that have to be asked when seeing something like this, and unfortunately considering the conceptual nature of the idea at this point, those answers probably just don't exist right now. Joybond Watermelon Cooler is Real, We’re Not Sure Why

, Jul 19th 2010 Discuss [1]

You can't help but laugh at this thing. Because there's a part of you, somewhere deep inside your head, that thinks that maybe this is the best prop for a terrible Sci-Fi movie you've ever seen. But then you'll read that title, see that it's actually real, and you'll probably scratch your head. Or maybe just laugh, scratch your noggin, and then find somewhere that will import this bad boy straight to your doorstep right now. Read The Full Story

Personal Music Showers Introduced at Burger King in Japan

Here in the States, it's just about brand new that fast food places want you to stay in their restaurant. Their chairs used to be so uncomfortable, and the colors inside so uninviting that it took the utmost level of will power just to stay in their long enough to finish your fries and burger. But, while that's slowly changing here locally, it would seem that fast food establishments around the world don't mind if you stick around. In fact, at a Burger King in Tokyo, Japan, it looks like they want you to stay as long as you want -- just make sure you've got an iPod Touch or iPhone. Read The Full Story

Folding Shower Lets You Choose Where Your Shower Goes

If memory serves, the last time we showcased a folding piece of bathroom gadgetry, it was a toilet -- and it was far more compact than this big thing is. Not that we'd expect a shower to be all that compact, but considering the market that the designers are aiming this thing for, we would think that size would be a focal point. As of right now, the designers are looking for a manufacturer and distributor to bring the Folding Shower to the world, so it at least sounds like they think they've got a great idea. LCD Touch Panels Being Added to Coke Vending Machines in Japan

, Jun 24th 2010 Discuss [1]

You've probably used a vending machine at least once in your life. And if you're like us, you've cataloged the changes the behemoth pieces of gadgetry have received over the years. Once, what may seem like forever ago, they only accepted physical money, between paper monies and coins; but then, not too long ago, they started accepting payment through the plastic style: credit and debit cards. The vending machine may have been off many people's radar for evolutionary changes, but it's getting ready to change again. Read The Full Story

Longing for Boredom

, Jun 24th 2010 Discuss [2]

Working as a High School teacher in a Charter school, my job wasn’t simply to teach and follow the curriculum. I was also a student advisor for a group of kids. It’s sort of like a guidance counselor role. I help them get along with each other, and with other teachers. I would help them get psyched about going to college, then help them through the application process. We had guidance counselors, but they were really more like social workers and psychologists. I gave advice, and filled the more traditional guidance counselor role.

Moshi Voice Control Digital Clock Radio Makes Waking Up a Lot Harder

, May 19th 2010 Discuss [0]

There has to be a fine line between our alarm clocks getting smarter. Or, maybe not smarter, but rather easier to control. Because, we don't know about you, but the only way our alarm clock wakes us up, is if we have to get out of bed to turn it off. Then again, there has to be something said about an alarm clock we can talk to. And, even better, that does what we tell it to do. We love our voice commands, after all. Read The Full Story

Quirky Switch modular Swiss Army knife debuts

Things were very different when I was a kid compared to today. If I left my 5-year-old home all day while I went to work, I would go to jail. That was common when I was a kid. Schools were also more relaxed back then. I once took my Swiss Army knife to school for show and tell in first grade. The teacher made me leave it in her desk during recess, but no one called the cops. Read The Full Story

Dry-All Wet Cell Phone Emergency Kit might save your phone

I've never had a problem with getting my mobile phone or other gadgets wet. I have spilled a Dr. Pepper on my keyboard before and had to dry the thing out and my son once spilled a whole can of root beer on a GPS device I was testing. Read The Full Story

Squishy Lights Make for the Best Luminous Trees

, Mar 16th 2010 Discuss [1]

It's no secret that we're fans of all kinds of tech and gadgets, but we especially hold a soft spot in our hearts for things like this. They're just fancy, and crazy enough to pique our interest. Of course, if you were to actually put any of these squishy lights in your home, you might get some second glances, or maybe even some dumbfounded stares, but isn't it worth it? After all, you could probably take some solace in the fact you'd be the only one on the block with them. Read The Full Story

Zoom drops new G2Nu and G2.1Nu guitar pedals for rockers

My lack of musical talent has been well documented. I attribute my musical inability to the lack of interest in any sort of practice. Guitarists have all sorts of gadgets and gear they can use to make their music sound better and different like effects pedals and other stuff. A company called Zoom has unveiled a couple new effects pedals for guitarists called the G2Nu and the G2.1Nu. Read The Full Story

Gravity Ruler luggage scales are annoyingly straightforward

, Jan 13th 2010 Discuss [1]

We're not going to labor the old "sometimes the simplest solutions..." point because, well, if the were so straightforward then why wouldn't someone have commercialized on them already, but design students Marcella Maltese and Lin Wei's "Gravity Ruler" luggage scales really do have us kicking ourselves. Intended to avoid unexpected shocks at check-in, the simple handle takes advantage of some stretchy bungee cord to give an at-a-glance guesstimate of whether you're over an airline's limit.
