Tauntaun Sleeping Bag might become real

, Apr 3rd 2009 Discuss [0]

There were plenty of good April Fool's gags this year, including CADIE and GMail Autopilot from Google, but my personal favorite was a joke product ThinkGeek was offering. The Tauntaun Sleeping Bag was merely a joke--a gag to trick customers--but after an influx of emails, the store might actually offer it. Apparently, so many customers emailed ThinkGeek that they're seriously considering making this sleeping bag. How cool would that be? The only stipulation is that they have no idea if they'll be able to get a license from Lucasfilm. But still, it's awesome that they're going to try. I hope if the real thing is made, it looks exactly like the mocked up photo: furry Tauntaun body outside, Tauntaun guts inside and light saber zipper. Now you can recreate the famous scene from The Empire Strikes Back without the Tauntaun carcass smell. [via OhGizmo!]

GAME-800 all-in-one takes new approach on handhelds

, Apr 2nd 2009 Discuss [0]

Well, this is different. The GAME-800 is an all new device that does just about everything you'd ever want a device to do. It's all-in-one feature list is pretty impressive, but how will it stack up to the competition? Does it even stand a chance? This handheld doesn't make phone calls, but it can send and receive text messages, take and view photos and playback video. One thing that's especially cool about is the NES/GBA emulator for all of your old school gaming needs and the MP5 player. It has surprisingly good specs for coming from an unknown, with 4GB storage plus a microSD slot for expansion. Other connections include a TV output, two 3.5-mm headphone jacks and USB 2.0. It also features a 3.5-inch QVGA display. And you know what? It's priced pretty decently at $69.99. So, it has some weird directional buttons that might be a bit awkward, but all in all, it looks pretty decent.  [via technabob]

I'm a sucker for cute little office gadgets. They're often cheap and supremely cheesy, but I just can't help myself. Take this Turtle USB 2.0 Hub, for instance. Sure, it's a pretty standard USB hub on one hand, but on the other, it's a cute little turtle. I mean, come on. Who can resist that? Read The Full Story

Who doesn't like an excessive gadget every now and again? If you've been itching to get your hands on something stylish and high-tech, you'll definitely want to check out The Chairman phone from Ulysse Nardin. The aptly named "Chairman" is a phone for those seeking luxury in every aspect of their lives. Ulysse Nardin is a watchmaker and along with SCI Innovations, they have come up with this elite handset. So, what makes this phone stand out? Besides the fancy title, it also has a functional watch rotor. Kinetic energy is used to power the watch and it provides additional power to the rechargeable battery inside the phone. What's cool is you can see the rotor turning inside the phone. No word on pricing just yet, but you know what they say about these luxury items: if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it! The Chairman will be available in the fall in steel/gold, solid gold and solid steel versions. [via Slippery Brick]

Sanwa Throat Microphone makes you loud and clear

, Mar 23rd 2009 Discuss [1]

Okay, so I have an iPhone and use the earbuds that came with it. The problem is that first, the earbuds constantly fall out of my ears and second, people I'm talking to often have trouble hearing me through the built-in mic. But you might just be able to remedy that problem with the Sanwa Throat Microphone. This microphone wraps around your neck like some weird futuristic necklace. But it doesn't work by picking up the sound from your mouth. Rather, it works by picking up the vibrations as you speak at your throat. This transmits very clearly through the mic, making it easy for those you're talking with to hear you. So, you might look a little weird, but at least it works pretty good. There's no information on when the Sanwa Throat Microphone will be available or how much it will cost yet, but we'll keep you posted. [via Coolest Gadgets]

, Feb 23rd 2009 Discuss [0]

If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, then Apple must be one of the most flattered company's to date.  Latest to "borrow" some of the Cupertino industrial design is Korean firm Hanuribiz, whose nurian X40 may only be an electronic dictionary and part-time PMP, but does it all in a slick little MacBook Air suit.
