Packing a 16.01-megapixel Live MOS sensor and Panasonic’s Venus Engine, a 3-inch touchscreen, 1920 x 1080 60i HD AVCHD video recording and 0.09 second autofocus, the LUMIX GX1 works with the existing range of Micro Four Thirds lenses and will go on sale in mid-December.

World’s largest glasses-free 3D display shown in Japan

Japans' National Institute of Information and Communications (NICT) along with JVC Kenwood have jointly developed a 200-inch auto-stereoscopic Full HD 3D display, which is being touted as the world's largest glasses-free 3D display to date. Sony has revealed its latest Cyber-shot digital cameras, the 12.2mm-thick TX55 - billed as the world's thinnest with Full HD video recording support - and the WX30. Both have the same 16.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, a touchscreen display - 3.3-inch OLED on the TX55, and 3-inch wide-aspect LCD on the WX30 - and Sony's Intelligent Sweep Panorama mode which can capture 42.9-megapixel panoramic shots simply by waving the cameras around. Samsung Galaxy S II gets 1080p 24 Mbit/s recording hack [Updated]

Samsung’s Galaxy S II has been coaxed into recording higher-quality video than the 1080p Full HD it supports out of the box, with a modder better known for his work on Symbian cameras turning his attention to the Android smartphone. hyperX added continuous auto-focus and 720p 30fps recording to the Nokia N8 back in 2010, but has now persuaded the GSII’s 8-megapixel camera to record 24 Mbit/s 1080p at 30fps complete with 44.1khz 192-bit audio.

Hybridcast “Dual Stream” promises broadcast Full HD 3D

While there are an increasing number of broadcast TV channels offering 3D HD content, so far the limitations of side-by-side transmission means that resolution tops out at 720p, rather than Full HD 1080p. The engineers at the Japanese NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories reckon they've got the solution, TechOn reports, with their Hybridcast "Dual Stream" 3D system, pairing broadcast with a sync'd IPTV feed.
