Did Apple ditch Facebook integration to pursue MobileMe with FourSquare?

I am going to swing the cat a bit on this one. The other day we posted up a video of a white iPhone 4 that had surfaced that showed some interesting ties into Facebook that never came to iOS 4. We wondered at the time if perhaps what we were seeing was a glimpse at iOS 5. At the same time, what we many have been looking at in that video was Facebook integration that Apple had planned and then backed away from.

The Daily Slash: December 8 2010

Well now! Today was certainly a diverse day. A bit of Tron [here], a bit of Tron , the crew of misfit developers over at XDA have a list of Gingerbread ROMs ready for you, Foursquare Users Pass 5 Million and get offered $140 million bucks for the keys to the front door, then it gets really wacky. Foursquare Users Pass 5 Million, Gets Offered $140 Million Bucks for Ownership

You know what this means? You know what the fact that Foursquare has 5 million users means? I means they're doing quite well, especially considering the fact that at SXSW (March) of 2010, Foursquare announced they had more than a half million users. Everyone thought that was gigantic. In April of 2010, they passed 1 million. Now Foursquare CEO and co-founder stands on a stage at LeWeb (say hi to Vince!) How Microsoft Got 1,000 Plus Apps Developed for the Launch of Windows Phone 7

What did that depth team do? Dish out the cash! Sources speaking with Ryan Kim note that in many cases, Microsoft offered either revenue guarantees or developers to work with companies to develop their particular WP7 app. Amongst those built or payed by Microsoft are: IMDb, Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, and Amazion, plus more.

FourSquare Tomorrow when you Vote!

FourSquare Tomorrow when you Vote!

By the time you read this post, it might already be too late! There's a site launching for FourSquare's new voter initiative, one simply called "I Voted," and it launches in 23 minutes from when I'm typing this sentence. It is hoped that this project (and badge, of course,) will encourage voters to get out there and do their duty! It would be hoped though, that you'd planned on doing it anyway, and I hope you wouldn't just vote for anybody just to get a badge. That said, vote soon, vote right, and vote often.
