Halo 5 gets a Ford F-150 to celebrate release at E3

The Xbox One release of Halo 5: Guardians will be celebrating with their very own unique Ford F-150 truck. This truck will be popping up first - in the real world - at E3 2015, starting next week. This Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat, as it's called, is a one-of-a-kind vehicle. It's inspired by the aesthetics of the Halo game's United Nations Space Command vehicle, and - unlike that vehicle - is prepared to roll through the real streets in the real world. While this truck isn't prepared for production at the moment, anything is possible.

Toyota weighs Ford’s open-source CarPlay rival

Toyota is tinkering with Ford's open-source dashboard software, the tech that allows smartphone apps to hook up to car infotainment systems. The Japanese firm announced today that SmartDeviceLink (SDL) "is being studied" for its potential inclusion in future cars; if adopted, it would mean compatible apps could work with cars across Ford, Toyota, and Lexus' ranges, tapping into voice control, steering wheel buttons, and whatever touchscreens are embedded.

After playing coy about exactly how much power the new flat-plane crank V8 engine under the hood of the Shelby GT350 Mustang would make for a long time, Ford has finally gone official with the power numbers. Previously Ford had teased that the V8 would make over 100 hp per liter, but that's all we knew and fans of the Mustang have been waiting to hear the official numbers.

Ford goes backwards with 2016 F-150 tech (in a good way)

Ford goes backwards with 2016 F-150 tech (in a good way)

Cars that can parallel-park themselves aren't new, but Ford's F-150 is borrowing the principle for a common truck headache: safely reversing a trailer. Pro Trailer Backup Assist is joining the options list for the 2016 model year of the aluminum truck, aiming to help avoid moments of "hang on, which way do I turn the wheel?" confusion when trying to back up with a trailer, horse box, or something else hanging off of your F-150, by making it as straightforward as watching the LCD and twiddling a knob.

2016 Mustang gets hood vent turn signals and new option packs

The 2015 year model marked an all-new Mustang that received independent rear suspension and a complete redesign inside and out. You might expect that with the car only having been on the market for a single year model, the 2016 model would be identical. Ford has announced that it is making some changes to the 2016 version of the Mustang in the form of new option packs.

Talking Ford GT and self-driving cars with CEO Mark Fields

Talking Ford GT and self-driving cars with CEO Mark Fields

Ford CEO Mark Fields is on a mission, and while aluminum, rubber, and steel might be the most obvious part of that - whether a truck like the F-150 or a legitimate supercar like the GT - the blue oval boss wants to make sure technology gets its dues. I revisited Ford’s Research and Innovation Center in Palo Alto, California to talk about autonomous vehicles and how they can co-exist with super-niche metal like the GT, why the rule book for selling trucks can be the blueprint for the connected car, and just how Ford is going about being good geek neighbors.
