The Ford Motor Company has been forced to recall over 70,000 Ford Escapes and nearly 16,000 2013 Ford Fusions due to an issue with overheating that may cause the cars' engines to catch on fire. The recall is only for select models that were sold in Canada and the United States. This comes after several other recalls Ford has had in the recent past.
Ford has officially announced that the Fiesta ST will be coming to North America. Ford currently offers the larger Focus ST in the US, and its smaller brother the Fiesta ST should be just as fun to drive. Ford has announced EPA-certified efficiency numbers on the all-new 2013 C-Max Energi. This vehicle is a plug-in hybrid and has been EPA certified at 108 MPGe in the city, 92 MPGe on the Highway, and 100 MPGe combined. Ford estimates that the vehicle will save drivers about $7000 in fuel costs over five years.
Ford has announced a new seven-passenger people mover called the Transit Connect Wagon. Despite being a large vehicle with tons of interior space, the car is expected to achieve 30 mpg on the highway using EcoBoost power. The Transit Connect Wagon has sliding doors, fold-flat second and third-row seating, and 1200 pounds of payload capability.
Ford has announced a new system that is designed to extend the electric only driving range of its hybrid and electric vehicles. The system is called EV+, and Ford has a patent pending on the system. Ford has been integrating voice control technology into its vehicles for years. The voice control technology was made in cooperation with Microsoft and is called Sync. Ford and Microsoft are celebrating five years of Sync availability and the 5 millionth vehicle to roll off the assembly line featuring Sync.
