TomTom provides connected navigation system for Fiat 500L

GPS maker TomTom and Fiat are partnering for new connected navigation system will be used in the Fiat 500L. The navigation system used in the little car will be the TomTom Go Live using a special cradle and dashboard system to allow the driver to have clear visibility while providing navigation details. The system will use HD traffic information and allow drivers to use social media apps to access restaurant reviews, hotel options, and to update followers on their location.

Someone at Fiat has a sense of humor, and that can be something rare in the automotive industry. Apparently, Fiat was paying attention to when the Google Street View camera cars were cruising around a Swedish city called Södertälje where VW's Swedish headquarters is located. When it was determined that the Street View vehicles were going to cruise by VW headquarters, someone zipped in and parked a Fiat 500 by the front door.

Back when I went to the Texas Auto Show, I got my first up close look at the little Fiat 500 cars and thought they looked pretty cool. Our resident Brit, Chris Davies, pointed out at the time that if I thought the normal Fiat 500 was a cool car, I should see the hopped up enthusiast grade Abarth version of the 500. That Fiat 500 Abarth version will indeed be coming to the US.

There were a bunch of cool cars at the Texas State Fair and a bunch of them scattered around were entry-level cars that were designed to be a cheap means of transportation. Most of them looked like cheap cars too. When I ambled by the Fiat booth the new Fiat 500 and 500C caught my eye right away. I walked over to take a look and was very surprised to see just how cool these little cars actually were.
