Fiat 500e teaser previews 2013′s must-have EV

Fiat has been teasing details around its next electric vehicle, the Fiat 500e, expected to arrive on Californian shores sometime in 2013. The new car - which will make its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show kicking off on November 30 - will feature some aesthetic differences from the regular gas-powered model, with the burnt orange of the promo car Fiat is using in its teaser being offset with matte white detailing around the mirrors and  lower front grille.

The new car gets a turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir turbocharged engine sporting 135 HP and 150 pound-foot of torque. The little turbocharged engine sends its power through a racetrack inspired manual transmission.

Can't get enough espresso? Stopping by Starbucks four times a day is all well and good, but true coffee fans make their own. In their cars. Fiat has announced that the 500L will come with an optional built-in espresso maker when it rolls off the line in October, leaving us a little excited and only slightly terrified. Lavazza will be supplying the coffee makers for what Fiat says is "the first standard-production car in the world to offer a true espresso coffee machine." It even comes with matching cups!

GPS maker TomTom and Fiat are partnering for new connected navigation system will be used in the Fiat 500L. The navigation system used in the little car will be the TomTom Go Live using a special cradle and dashboard system to allow the driver to have clear visibility while providing navigation details. The system will use HD traffic information and allow drivers to use social media apps to access restaurant reviews, hotel options, and to update followers on their location.

Apparently, Fiat was paying attention to when the Google Street View camera cars were cruising around a Swedish city called Södertälje where VW's Swedish headquarters is located. When it was determined that the Street View vehicles were going to cruise by VW headquarters, someone zipped in and parked a Fiat 500 by the front door.

The Fiat and Chrysler partnership is intended to help share the cost of designing and developing vehicles and more.
