Oh hell yea, this may be the most awesome bit of death machine engineering in history of things sure to kill or maim. What you are looking at here is a 250hp, Ferrari-powered quad with slicks all around. This little beast is called the Lazareth Wazuma V8F. The beastie gets a 3.0L Ferrari V8 engine hiding underneath that thin bodywork.

The power from that V8 hits the street through a 6-speed transmission that comes out of a BMW M3. The brakes to stop the thing once you are up to ludicrous speed are a set of 12.8-inch Brembo brakes all around. The quad weighs in at 1,433 pounds and with the power on tab, it is sure to destroy some underpants.

The contraption will set you back right at $261,000, but man it looks good. I wonder if it is even street legal. You might wonder how it is that a 3.0L Ferrari V8 is only putting down 250hp, that is about what the V8 of the same displacement offered in some Ferrari cars like the Mondial back in the day.

I already mentioned a couple of the cool cars that have surfaced at SEMA this year. Another awesome car that is on hand at the show is a Ferrari 458 Italia that has a custom wrap. The wrap was applied in partnership with Epson, Avery Dennison, and SkinWraps to showcase what you can pull off with one of the large format Epson printers.

The Ferrari is sitting in the Epson booth at SEMA and is called “Burning Down The House.” The wrap was printed by SkinWraps using an Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 printer. The print media was Avery MPI 1005 SuperCast. The wrap completely changes the look of the Ferrari.

The coolest part is that after the show is over the car will be unwrapped quickly and returned to its natural form with no issues. The Epson printer can print to the Avery media in 64-inch wide swaths with photographic image quality. The maximum image resolution is 1440 x 1440 dpi. The Avery media is 2-mil cast vinyl.

Thrustmaster has been pushing Ferrari-themed peripherals for gamers for a while now, but the company’s latest F1 wheel is the most convincing yet. A full-size replica of the Formula 1 Ferrari 2011 racing wheel designed to work with the company’s T500 RS system, the eye-catching accessory includes brushed-metal paddle shifters, all the rotary knobs and buttons from the authentic car, and an easy swap system for switching between it and the original GT wheel.

In fact, there are two rotary encoder knobs, for mid-race settings tweaks, eight dual-detent buttons, three tri-position switches with wheel re-centering and two 8-directional D-pads, set in a reinforced metal face-plate. The wheel itself is clad in textured rubber.

Two modes are supported, either the “normal” setup that works with PS3 and PC and activates 13 of the buttons and the three D-pads, or the “advanced” setup that enables all of the controls but is only compatible with PC titles. Impressive stuff, but it comes as a price: $199.99 for the wheel alone, when it drops sometime in October, with the T500 RS system having a $599.99 MRSP itself.

I would be willing to bet that any of the people that own high powered exotic cars like Ferraris aren’t able to drive the cars to 50% of their potential on dry roads, much less in rain or on ice. Ferrari wants to be sure that its owners and enthusiasts can drive their awesome Italian sports cars in the ice and show. With winter coming soon to many areas and to educate drivers, Ferrari is having a new driver’s event.

The event is called the Winter Driving Experience and is based on the Pilota On Ice events held in Italy. The course is a two-day program that uses the ugliest Ferrari next to the California, the two-door, four-seater Ferrari FF. This car was chosen thanks to its four-wheel drive system. The snow and ice drivers education event is going to provide the drivers with one of eight FF cars to use.

The event will be held at the Little Nell Resort in Aspen Colorado. The program isn’t free and will cost $11,300 per driver and there will be 10-12 students in the program. The two-night hotel stay is included and the price includes a Champagne reception and two group dinners along with lunches at the track. A guest can be included with the students for $950. You could buy a nice used car for the price of learning to hoon a Ferrari in the snow.

Of all the things we expect from Ferrari, a shooting-brake isn’t one of them, but the Italian firm has revealed its striking Ferrari FF set to go on display at the Geneva Motor Show. With a name that stands for “Ferrari Four” – a nod to both the four seats and the four-wheel drive – the FF packs a 6.262L V12 engine that can rocket it from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds.

That continues to the Ferrari’s top speed of 208 mph, with the driver snicking through gears with the transaxel dual-clutch F1 gearbox. There’s also a magnetorheological damping system, which basically means the FF is at home on tracks, snow or the road.

Bizarrely for a Ferrari, the FF’s rear seats can fold flat and you can basically use it as a station wagon, boosting trunk space from 450 liters to 800 and actually making it top of its rarified class for storage. No word on pricing at this stage.

Press Release:

The FF unveiled on www.ferrari.com

A revolutionary four-seater, four-wheel drive V12 Ferrari: exceptional performance and versatility

Maranello, 21st January 2011 – The official Prancing Horse web site, Ferrari.com, has revealed the first photographs of the new FF, the company’s most powerful, versatile four-seater ever, as well as its first ever four-wheel drive car.

The FF – an acronym for Ferrari Four (four seats and four-wheel drive) – ushers in an entirely new GT sports car concept. A decisive break with the past, the new car represents not so much an evolution as a true revolution.

This new V12 melds to an unprecedented level an extremely sporty, high-performance character with incredible versatility, superb comfort and sophisticated elegance, guaranteeing both driver and passengers an absolutely unique driving experience.

Designed by Pininfarina, the shape and proportions perfectly interpret the FF’s harmonious blend of sporting DNA and extraordinary usability.

The FF features the company’s first ever four-wheel drive system. Ferrari’s exclusive, patented 4RM (four-wheel drive) weighs 50 per cent less than a conventional four- wheel drive system, maintaining perfect weight distribution (53 per cent over the rear axle). Completely integrated with the car’s electronic dynamic control systems, the four-wheel drive technology delivers record levels of performance on all terrains and in all conditions via continuous and intelligent predictive torque distribution to all four wheels. The FF is also equipped with the latest magnetorheological damping system (SCM3), as well as the most recent development in carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo.

Exceptional performance levels come courtesy of the new 6,262 cc direct injection engine which develops 660 CV at 8,000 rpm. In tandem with its transaxle dual-clutch F1 gearbox, stunning acceleration figures (0-100 km/h in 3.7 sec.) are guaranteed. The new model’s class-leading weight-to-power ratio of 2.7 kg/CV, along with its ideal weight distribution, ensures exceptionally responsive handling. The result is that owners will be able to enjoy the FF’s prowess over a wide range of uses: city driving, on low grip or snow-covered surfaces and on the track.

Performance aside, Maranello’s latest model also offers standards of passenger space, comfort, in-car spec and equipment previously unheard of in such a high-performance car. It can comfortably accommodate four people and their luggage, thanks to the best cabin space and boot capacity (450 litres extendable to 800) figures in its category, including four-door cars.

A vast array of personalisation options and accessories has been developed for the FF. These include six model-specific exterior colours and sumptuous interior trim incorporating specially selected and treated aniline leather.

The FF, which will make its official debut in occasion of the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, is presented today with the first three photos from a dedicated shoot by Giovanni Gastel.

One, is the the fact that it changed the world and keeps me in the technologically neato news publishing business. Two, is the fact that it does things like give little kids back their stolen backpacks. Just the other day, the internet (including, importantly, Gizmodo and Reddit,) got word of this little man getting his backpack (full of Halloween candy and a PSP) stolen! So what did they do? Like all good communities, they called out for help. Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel got wind of it, and like a good talk show host, he did a special on the situation and sent the kid a new backpack with new candy, a new PSP, and a bonus NERF gun. Win! I love you, internet. Watch the Jimmy Kimmel clip here:

The Ferrari name has been plastered onto products other than cars though with Ferrari computers from Acer. The latest device to get the Ferrari name is a hair dryer of all things.

The hair dryer is made by the Conair BaByliss Pro line and is the Volare model with an AC V12 engine that was designed be Ferrari. The Ferrari power plant provides 2200W of power, which should be enough to roast your ears and dry even the thickest manes in no time flat.

The thing can blow air at up to 130km/hr. If you had a pair of these, you might be able to fly around the room jet pack style. The thing sells for $400 and is aimed at hair cutting pros. That is a lot of green for a hair dryer.

Acer‘s latest Ferrari-branded notebook has pulled up, and it’s an 11.6-inch ultraportable. The Acer Ferrari One has a 1.2GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor under the hood, together with 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 250GB 5,400rpm hard-drive and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 graphics. As with other Acer Ferrari models, there’s plenty of fake carbon fiber together with a one-touch shortcut key to the supercar manufacturer’s website.

While we’re not sure exactly how often you’ll actually be visiting the Ferrari site, at least the Acer squeezes in a little more than the regular CULV ultraportable. As well as a full-sized keyboard there’s WiFi a/b/g/n, a multitouch trackpad, three USB 2.0 ports and VGA output (though no HDMI, sadly).

Acer reckon the 6-cell 5,600mAh battery is good for up to 5hrs runtime, and the whole thing weighs 3.31lbs. The Acer Ferrari One is available now, priced at $599.99; our review unit is expected any day now, so we should be able to tell soon enough if the performance matches the looks.

When your “class” is utterly extreme luxury sports coupés, though, that’s perhaps not as impressive as the latest super-frugal hatchback. Still, you’re unlikely to risk breaking the 200mph barrier as you will be able to in the Ferrari.

Plenty more detail about the 458 Italia at the car company’s site, and they’re promising video from the design teams, Pininfarina and Michael Schumacher over the next month. One of the best details, perhaps, are the front grill winglets, which are intended to deform with increasing wind resistance and thus shift to a place whereby downforce is maximized. Start saving now…

Not content with the budget end of the ultraportable market, Acer have announced yet another Ferrari notebook as part of the branding deal with the Italian supercar manufacturer. The Acer Ferrari 1200 has a 12.1-inch LED-backlit display, AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core mobile processor and up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, but we all know that far more important is the carbon-fiber cover, anodized-metal touchpad (said to resemble the car’s pedals) and soft-touch coating.

You also get an exclusive Bluetooth mouse and there’s an optional VoIP handset to go with the Ferrari 1200. Other specs include a slot-loading DVD drive, “large capacity” SATA hard-drive, Dolby Home Theater audio and WiFi. There’s also a webcam and biometric security courtesy of the fingerprint scanner, together with Acer’s DASP hard-drive protection system.

No word on how much the keys to the Acer Ferrari 1200 will set you back, but figure more than the equivalently spec’d 12.1-inch ultraportable just by virtue of the brand name. It’ll apparently be available in the first half of 2009.

The look of the prominent rearing Ferrari stallion logo in glossy finish sure will turn a few heads, and probably you wallet too. With only 500 units available worldwide and each bears the accent of Italian finest, don’t expect the Taiwanese lets loose of this display in affordable price.

On top of all the outward appearance modifications you also get pre-registration to the official site of Ferrari, www.ferrariworld.com, a couple of videos from Ferrari, Ferrari wallpapers and ringtones, some online magazine subscriptions, and “The Bourn Identity” which I have no idea what that has to do with Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari truly did build an empire.

Technically this model has not officially been announced or released, but you should be able to get more info from Ferrari and Motorola stores some time in Q1 of next year. No official price is available at the moment either.

When you think about a Segway, I’m sure that the term “speed demon” doesn’t exactly come to mind. Ferrari, now that’s a name that is synonymous with speed. Oddly enough, these two companies have teamed up to produce the Segway PT i2 Ferrari Limited Edition.

I hope that I’m not the only one that sees the irony in this unlikely alliance. So what exactly is the benefit of purchasing the Ferrari-branded Segway? Well, it bears the classic Ferrari colors and the Ferrari logo. Oh it has leather handlebars too.

You’ll pay a whopping $12,000 for the cool paint job and leather handlebars. Seriously, just whip out the old can of spray paint and wrap the handlebars yourself, you’ll save a ton of cash.

The Meridian F80 is as portable of a version of audio Mecca as you will likely see this year. Just this thing’s appearance is a work of art worthy of the Ferrari name created by Enzo Anselmo Ferrari.

Let’s start with what’s built into the device, first there is the CD/DVD player. That’s right, not only does it play music, but if you hook it up to a video display it will play DVDs. Then there are the radios, AM/FM, those are kind of standard, but there is also DAB radio.

You can connect your iPod to this amazing device to search your library and play music from it. There is a plethora of other connections as well, including 2 auxiliary ins, one digital one analog, and an auxiliary out. There is also one built in antenna and two other assignable antenna sockets with different antenna accessories for them. Don’t forget the video outputs by way of S-Video and composite outs.

The actual sound output is done via an 80 watt 2.1 sound system with the sub facing out the back. This balance that the sub creates is a good weight balance for carrying the unit by the integrated handle.

This device really does look amazing, it keeps it old-school with the table-top radio design but revamps it with and art-deco elliptical appearance and an OLED display. The body is die cast and the speakers are each compartmentalized to reduce audio interference. The outsides consists of a display, a front speaker grill and the rest is painted in what is clearly Ferrari inspired colors ranging from red, white, black, and yellow on to likely whatever you want.

These radios, and I use the word loosely, are hand made in the UK. They will begin selling now for $3,000 a piece.

Yeah, me neither, clearly much ado about nothing, but here you are again reading about the companies executives. Well “Dietrich” has been found.

For those of you that may have forgotten, “Dietrich” was the gentleman who was accused of being the driver of the $1 million plus Ferrari Enzo that was wrecked in Malibu some time ago. In the end, one of the most perfect cars of our time, was cleaved in twain by a telephone pole.

Maybe Ferrari should implement an IQ test for their next selection, as last I read you had to be selected to be allowed to purchase this million dollar ride. Regardless, both men are retarded, and it deeply saddens me knowing that such a work of art has been destroyed, the only thing that saddens me more is reading about the McLaren F1 car that was totaled.

The one thing worse than knowing there are hyper-rich people out there with all the cool toys you’d love to own, is knowing that they don’t actually use most of them. Which is why it’s semi-refreshing to read about James Glickenhaus, who commissioned a one-of-a-kind custom Ferrari called the P4/5; okay, so he’s still indecently wealthy but at least he drives the car rather than leave it sat in an air-conditioned garage.

Based on the running gear of a Ferrari Enzo, the P4/5 was a restyle and rework that saw many hours in the wind-tunnel and over 200 custom parts, adding up to a car that’s not only distinctive but also faster than the original donor. Costing around $4m, it’s entirely carbon fiber bodied and produces less drag with greater downforce when compared to the Enzo.

The interior was designed by Glickenhaus, and includes an iPod nano and a Tablet PC. Top speed is 225mph, while 0-60 comes in 3.5s.

There’s Ferrari rich and then there’s one-off Ferrari rich, and if James Glickenhaus’ $4m P4/5 uber-car last year is anything to go by you need to be seriously wealthy to go looking for a unique set of prancing horse keys. Well, this year should see another boost to the Italian marque’s coffers, after a special request for three heavily-modified racers based on the 599 GTB and to be named the 600 GTO.

What the shadowy picture above lacks in detail it makes up for in moody attitude, clearly showing the contours of a reworked nose, bonnet slats and heavily pronounced ridges, together with an evil looking front spoiler. Slightly less intimidating, but a tad more illuminatory, is this CAD model:

Rumour has it that the entire bodywork is to be remade in carbon fiber, and while leather seats, aircon and a decent stereo still bless the interior there’s a drop in kerb-weight of 285kg – considering the super-tourer 599 only weighs 1690kg to begin with, it’s an impressive feat.

All the bodywork tweaking has increased downforce by 26-percent at the front and 23-percent at the rear, which should see the 600 GTO stick to the tarmac like a small child’s tongue to an icy pole, adding up to an impressive showing should the rumoured single-make owner’s championship ever come to fruition.

Tentatively expect/hope to see the 600 GTO triplets at September’s Frankfurt Auto Show.

Only 1947 will be made, to commemorate the founding year of Ferrari, and the handset itself is a symbol of theirs and Vertu’s continuing partnership in the Ferrari Challenge. With a stainless steel body partly clad in black and red leather, a “brake pedal” detail on the battery cover and Ferrari logo on the front, it’s a whole lot more tasteful than the last phone from Nokia’s elitist sub-division.

The Ferrari Ascent will be available worldwide from July.

You’re a petrol-head, you live for the thrill of the open road. Your dreams are filled with the roar of mighty Ferrari racing cars, and you’d give your left lung (or at least someone’s left lung) to get behind the sculpted wheel of an F1 car. But your desires are greater than your talent, and there’s little chance of them calling you up now that Schumacher has left the building. Scalextric is just too confining for you, so what do you do?

Well, the answer could be “buy one of these remote-control Ferraris”. Yeah, it’s only 1/12 scale rather than being full-sized, but let’s face it – where would you keep a full-sized plastic Ferrari? The racing-replica wheel operates the scaled-down beast, while a diddy little camera beams back a driver’s-eye view to its built-in screen. Don’t ask me what all those other buttons do, however; they may adjust the suspension and radio in to the pit-lane, they may just be stick-on decals.

Yours for $275, which I fear you couldn’t even buy a real Ferrari wheel nut for.
