Galaxy S III pre-ordered by “thousands”

Last week it was revealed that various carriers across the world has placed pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S III to the tune of 9 million units. How about actual customers? We still don’t have any solid numbers, but Samsung and the Carphone Warehouse have put out a release saying that “thousands” have pre-ordered the phone in the UK, and that the numbers have “surpassed expectations.”

Samsung has officially announced the Exynos 4 Quad, the 1.4GHz quad-core chipset that the company says will be at the core of the Galaxy S3. Based on four ARM Cortex A9 cores and promising double the performance of its Exynos 4 Dual predecessor while using 20-percent less power, the Samsung Exynos 4 Quad uses High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) low-power tech and a custom power-management companion chip that automatically controls the cores so as to balance grunt and efficiency.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 delayed for quad-core upgrade [UPDATE: Samsung denies]

The folks at Samsung have been tipped to be holding back the next steps in their tablet evolution with not only the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 but the Galaxy Note 10.1 as well, both of them set for an upgrade to quad-core processors at launch time. Both of these devices were originally set to have dual-core processors of one kind or another, but due to the extremely quickly changing times in the tablet market it seems, they'll be upgrading both to their next-generation Exynos chips with four CPU cores instead. This bodes well for the Samsung tablet line as well as the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone which is set to be revealed next month.

There has been some speculation in the past as to whether we’ll see a quad-core processor in the Samsung Galaxy S III.
