Drobo Mini and 5D up for pre-order

Pre-orders for Drobo's latest external storage arrays have opened, with retailers offering up early spots for the new Drobo 5D and Drobo Mini ahead of their September release. Announced back in June, the two models pack Thunderbolt connectivity and optional mSATA SSD bays that can dramatically increase performance, and Drobo claims that pre-sale interest in the pair has been the most frantic of any of the company's models. “Next-gen” Drobo fast incoming says CEO

Drobo's next-generation storage arrays are "soon-to-be-announced" according to the company's CEO, with possibility of longer standard warranties among hardware and software improvements. Chief exec Tom Buiocchi revealed the fast-nearing refresh in responding to complaints about the existing Drobo, though did not confirm any specific technical information. There’s nothing better than when a brilliant industrial designer like Philippe Starck gets the opportunity to design for a massively powerful manufacturer like Apple. This week we’re hearing from Starck via a French radio show that he’s worked with Apple for several years on a project which will be released this summer – a “revolutionary” product at that. New unconfirmed Microsoft SkyDrive features tipped

Some new features have surfaced that will be included in Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud-based storage solution. Microsoft hasn't confirmed these features, but they're said to be part of SkyDrive Wave 5 M3. One of the new features is the ability to manage BitLocker recovery keys that are stored on SkyDrive. LaCie unveiled two new Thunderbolt-equipped storage solutions with the 2big Thunderbolt Series and the eSATA Hub Thunderbolt Series. It's no surprise that G-Technology by Hitachi has unveiled a new external HDD today that has 8TB of storage inside. Seagate unveiled its own 4TB external yesterday and it's normal for others to come out with similar gear shortly thereafter. The G-Technology drive has some really cool features though and looks like it was meant to coordinate with a Mac style wise. Adata unveils SH14 rugged USB 3.0 external HDD

Adata has unveiled a new portable HDD that uses the fast USB 3.0 interface to allow for much faster data speeds when storing data to the drive. The external storage device is called the SH14 and it comes in black or red colors. It will work with USB 2.0 ports as well and needs no power adapter to operate.
