Evernote for iOS update brings scanning, Apple Watch features

For many, Evernote is the go-to for digital note taking and document storage. A good portion of those users are also on iOS, and Evernote’s recent update keeps those users in mind. The core Evernote app (there are a lot of satellite offerings form the company) will now let users scan documents and have them turned into digital representations of their physical selves. Evernote for Android gets sleek redesign

Evernote has pushed out a new design for its Android app, bringing it in line with Google's design guidelines for Lollipop by largely refining what it already offered. Not much has changed over the last design update, though Evernote says there's more to it than just the visual changes, and that "the thoughtful touches to these features" makes the overall Android note-taking experience better than before. Evernote went into details about the design change, talking about the motivation behind it and the best it has to offer users.

Evernote has announced an upcoming app for the Apple Watch, the likes of which we've covered extensively today (check out our hands-on!). The company that made note-taking trendy has gushed over Apple's new wearable, saying that "we're about to experience a forward leap that will inevitably make memories of our pre-Apple Watch wrists seem grainy and sepia-toned". Evernote wants to make sure it's right there to go along with it (and your wrist), and as such you'll be able to dictate notes to your wrist and more.

Evernote shuttering Peek and Hello, ends BlackBerry 7 support

Evernote is making some changes today, and sweeping out the unneeded bits in a bout of Spring (Winter?) cleaning. Saying “there’s a natural lifecycle to technology at some point”, Evernote is shutting down a few apps, and ending support for some platforms that — well, we’re honestly surprised Evernote still had users for. If you use either Hello or Peek, you’ve got until February 7th to find a new method. Additionally, those on BlackBerry 7 and/or the BlackBerry PlayBook will need to find a new digital home for their notes.

Today, the company is announcing Scannable, an app that will scan any document you have and upload it to their service. Better yet, your scanned documents are also searchable via Evernote, so you can find them later on. You’ll also be able to send the documents along via just about any digital means you like. Images are automatically rotated, cropped and adjusted , too.
