Google places strict NDA on Project Glass Hackathon events

There's understandably a huge amount of buzz surrounding Google's Project Glass, and the fact that the company is holding two developer events at the end of the month isn't helping to quell the excitement. Sadly, if you were waiting for all kinds of details to come out of these developer events, we've got some sour news for you. Apple employee town hall meeting letter sets the tone

Yesterday Apple announced new record results for their financial Q1 2013 including sales of iOS devices as well as overall revenue, and with those announcements came an invite from Tim Cook to employees for a town hall meeting being held this morning. This town hall meeting will likely be extremely similar to the meeting held last year at this time after the company released its 2012 Q1 financial results, question and answer session included. At the moment we're not entirely sure if we'll be seeing the results of this session or if it will be closed-door employees-only in the end. Read The Full Story

The White House unveils National Day of Civic Hacking

The White House has announced that this summer it will launch the National Day of Civic Hacking, a nationwide event where individuals can stretch their creative fingers using publicly released data to create "solutions for problems that affect Americans." The event will take place on June 1 and 2, and will be a collaborative effort amongst anyone who wants to participate. Read The Full Story

Mega claims 1 million users on day one

According to none other than Kim Dotcom himself, Megaupload's replacement Mega has attained 1 million users in the first day it's been active. This of course includes those users that got early access, and the announcement was made at Dotcom's own mansion in New Zealand at a conference clad with fireworks and scantily clad ladies. The event spoken of here took place early this morning (or at night if you were there in person) and was described as "insane" by some choice attendees. Read The Full Story

Google Glass announces two upcoming developer events

Last summer, Google offered a $1,500 pre-order for its Google Glass at the I/O conference. Now, a little less than six months later, the company has invited those who signed up to attend one of two developer events it has planned at the end of the month. Facebook Graph Search revealed at special live event

This week the folks at Facebook have revealed a third of three pillars the describe as the “Three Pillars of the Facebook ecosystem”, that being Graph Search. Mark Zuckerberg himself described this new area of excellence for the Facebook universe, showing the first two as being the Facebook News Feed and the Facebook Timeline. Zuckerberg let it be known that Graph Search is anything if not “web search” – its just a bit different than that.

PlayStation 4 release tipped by Sony event invite

This week the event known as Destination PlayStation (2013) has been confirmed in an invitation to the press (and retail executives, of course) with promise of more 2013 action than the game-loving public can handle. This event is set to show off games, primarily, but attendees will also be "treated to food, drink, play, and a first look at all the amazing new releases coming from Sony Computer Entertainment America Entertainment in 2013." HTC Verizon event set for November 13, DROID DNA likely

On the 13th of this month there will indeed be an event held by HTC and Verizon at once, bringing on a new device that’s quite likely looking like what we’ve been teased with over the past few weeks – the HTC DROID DNA. This device is the only un-revealed machine we’ve seen that’s heading for Verizon from HTC that’s been visible in leaks over the past few weeks, and with the way the market looks today, such a phablet is quite likely to pop up soon.
