Windows 10 for phones gets better Action Center, PC integration

Windows 10 for phones gets better Action Center, PC integration

Windows 10 is great on the desktop, but what about the phone, or small tablet? Microsoft is ‘evolving’ Windows there as well, but also typing it right back to your desktop. A new feature for Action Center will tie directly to your PC, and the settings menu looks quite a bit more polished to us. Windows 10 on your phone or sub 8-inch tablet is still very mobile, though, and has some features that will likely have some heads turning.

What to expect from tomorrow’s Windows 10 event

What to expect from tomorrow’s Windows 10 event

In a few short months, we’ve seen Microsoft go in a new direction with Windows. Possibly in an attempt to distance themselves from the aspirational (but ultimately confusing and misguided) Windows 8, we’re now getting Windows 10. Though Microsoft probably isn’t quite ready to bring Windows 10 to the consumer space, tomorrow will likely give us a better idea of what they’ve been working on since last time we heard from them. We won’t expect anything huge, but there’s still reason to be excited.

Xiaomi tipped to enter US market in 2015

Xiaomi tipped to enter US market in 2015

As early as January of 2015, Xiaomi may well make its move for the United States mobile market. It's suggested that Xiaomi may do this with the smartphone "Mi5", showing off this Qualcomm Snapdragon-toting device at CES 2015 in their first-ever appearance inside the USA. This device is currently priced at CNY1,999, converted to right around $325 USD off-contract. If this pricing schedule continues through a USA-based released, even the most major smartphone manufactures might be turning an attentive eye toward China.

iPad Air 2 vs iPad mini 3 hands-on: an iPad at any cost

iPad Air 2 vs iPad mini 3 hands-on: an iPad at any cost

Apple introduced a couple new devices on-stage this week without going especially far into detail on what’d been changed since their previous generation’s release. One of these devices was the iPad mini 3, a device that didn’t make the generational leap at the same level as the iPad Air 2. At the same time, the release of this tablet bumped down the lowest-cost iPad mini to previously unheard-of low prices for an iPad sold direct by Apple.

iPad Air 2 hands-on: Witness the waif

iPad Air 2 hands-on: Witness the waif

Did the iPad Air need to be any slimmer? Apple certainly thinks so, and so the iPad Air 2 was born, just 6.1mm thick and now blessed with a Touch ID sensor that was previously limited to its iPhone cousins. At first glance it's hard to spot the difference, at least until you pick the Air 2 up, when its waifish build suddenly becomes more obvious.

Apple Store down: new products incoming

Apple Store down: new products incoming

We’re in line at the Apple Event this morning in California and the Apple Store has gone down. This means that new Apple hardware is fast approaching, and that it’ll be available for order - or pre-order, at least - later today. This sort of down time has happened with essentially every major release of a product from Apple over the past several years, iPhone to iPad to MacBook Pro and back again. Today we’ll expect some iPad Air, some Mac, and some Yosemite for sure - though that last one will come from your App Store, not Apple’s online store.

PlayStation Experience is an event for the community

Sony's PlayStation events are always fun, but you may not have been able to attend one yet. If that is the case, you are in luck: Sony has announced an upcoming event that will last for two days and that is specifically for its gaming community. Called PlayStation Experience, the two-day event will be held this coming December in Las Vegas -- Sony says it has been "planning this bad boy for some time", and that it'll be just in time for the console's 20th anniversary.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity First-Impressions

We're just a little over one month away from the full release of Assassin's Creed: Unity, and we've had our first opportunity to get an up-close and personal view of the game in all its glory. Our demonstration was done on an Xbox One and we've seen single-player, 2-player co-op, and 4-player co-op. In this game Ubisoft presents Assassin's Creed rebuilt, enhancing the bits we liked about previous generations and cutting out the fluff.

HTC teases October event in video, gives brief glimpse of a device [UPDATE]

Earlier this month, HTC sent out an invite for a press event set to take place on October 8. The invite revealed very little information, showing only a fuzzy image of some phone and the words "double exposure" in bold writing. Following this, the maker has dropped another tease, this one in the form of a video. Update: Images have leaked.
