Eagle-eyed nettop watchers will note that we’ve already seen EMTEC’s G-Box quite a few times here on SlashGear, albeit wearing different branding.  Based on Pegatron’s reference design, EMTEC say the the G-Box uses NVIDIA’s Ion graphics chipset, which would suggest it’s a version of the Cape 7, but the VGA rather than HDMI port is more like the lower-powered Ultra Slim.

With more people amassing vast collections of digital media, the demand for a straightforward way to pipe that out through an HDTV is only increasing.  Emtec’s Movie Cube S800 not only offers video streaming, but expandable local storage, internet radio and dual TV tuners for recording fresh content or pausing live TV.  SlashGear hooked it up to see if our home entertainment prayers had been answered.

Leader in mobile storage solutions, EMTEC, has announced the Gdium ultra-portable, affordable netbook computer. In a world of netbooks we are seeing devices spring up left and right, who knows where the next netbook will come from?

It appears that EMTEC’s new Gdium netbook is ready for prime-time, or in this case, ready for display at CES.  We went hands-on with a non-functioning prototype of the Gdium last August at IFA 2008 and now have pictures and specs for what appears to be the final product.

Emtec brought their Gdium netbook along to play at IFA 2008, albeit in the form of a non-functional prototype.  As you can see in the picture (click here for full-size) they’re persisting with their GKey USB dongle – the white block central under the touchpad – which contains both user data and the OS and system files.  Otherwise it’s the usual array of ports and an unusual choice of processor: a 900Mhz 64-bit Loongson 2F made by by STMicroelectronics.
