Color us frustrated: Sharp have put together a gorgeous mixture of touchscreen, tilting display and full-QWERTY keyboard, and wasted the whole thing by limiting it to e-dictionary and media playback duties.  The Sharp RD-PM10 has a 4.3-inch WQVGA touchscreen, FM radio and 8GB of onboard storage, but lacks WiFi or Bluetooth or indeed any sort of internet software.

If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, then Apple must be one of the most flattered company’s to date.  Latest to “borrow” some of the Cupertino industrial design is Korean firm Hanuribiz, whose nurian X40 may only be an electronic dictionary and part-time PMP, but does it all in a slick little MacBook Air suit.

If you frequently travel abroad and have not mastered all the languages of the world, you may want to pick up the Nurian X-35 to help tackle any language barriers.  This electronic dictionary will help with translations for example English to Korean, Korean to English, Chinese to English, and English to Chinese.

Digitalcube’s i-station UDIC may look like a mini-convertible UMPC, but in actual fact it’s an electronic dictionary.  Still, that doesn’t really do the handheld device justice: it’s a dictionary with 50 languages, as well as text-to-speech, “native speakers” pronunciation guides and the i-TRANS translating service.  Available in two versions, both have hard-drives: one 30GB, the other 60GB.  AVING have been playing with the i-station recently and have made a video of the device in action; check it out after the cut.
