PopCap reportedly working on triple-A console title

Here's something that's pretty interesting: PopCap, developer of such casual gaming hits as Bejeweled, Plants vs. Zombies, and Peggle, might be working on a triple-A console title based on DICE's Frostbite 2.0 engine. Yes, that's the same Frostbite 2.0 that Battlefield 3 is built on. That's what a new job posting from Electronic Arts suggests anyway, which was discovered by Twitter user superannuation, a person known throughout the games industry for his talent of digging up job ads that give away a surprising amount of information. Crysis 3 coming to North America February 19, Europe February 22

We've already gotten a good look at Crytek and EA's upcoming Crysis sequel, and to say the least, we're pretty excited for yet some more graphics-intensive first-person shooter action. We've already been giving a rather vague release window of February 2013 for the game, but it's finally been announced that Crysis 3 will officially release on February 19 in North America, with a European release happening on February 22. Crysis 3 PC requirements land, get ready to upgrade

For years now, we've used the Crysis series to determine how good a PC is at a glance, with enthusiasts today still asking "But can it run Crysis?" when you bring up your PC's technical specifications. It looks like Crysis 3 will continue the series' trend of demanding a lot of power, as Electronic Arts has released the PC requirements for the incoming game. Star Wars: The Old Republic free-to-play option available now

Electronic Arts and LucasArts have announced the launch of Free-to-Play for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The option gives gamers access to the complete storylines for all eight classes up to level 50, as well as a host of other features. Free-to-play complements the already-available subscription option, "providing players with maximum flexibility in how they choose to experience" the game. Read The Full Story

EA says there isn’t any evidence of an Origin security breach

Earlier today, we told you that a number of Origin members were receiving emails that said the login information for their account had been changed. Since none of these members made those changes themselves, that's something of a problem. When questioned about the reports, Electronic Arts initially gave avoided giving a straight answer, telling those who had their accounts hijacked to get in touch with Origin Help or EA Support. EA Origin users fall victim to account hijacking

It's not a good day for a number of Origin users, as we're getting news that accounts are being hijacked by some of the more unsavory people of the world. Eurogamer first reported on the breach earlier today, but it seems these hijackings have been going on for at least a few days now. NeoGAF user Shaneus - one of the users who had their account stolen - posted a selection of Electronic Arts forum threads that show other users running into problems when trying to log in to their account. Black Ops II PC discs surprise players with Mass Effect 2 data

Well this is something of a hairy situation: we're getting reports that claim some Black Ops II PC discs actually contain data for Mass Effect 2 instead of, you know, the game advertised on the front of the box. One Redditor has compiled a list of links that all lead to complaints of these Mass Effect 2 discs in disguise, and YouTube zeroiez has captured the rather confusing mix up on video for the whole world to see. We've known for a while now that Electronic Arts and BioWare are planning to take Star Wars: The Old Republic free-to-play, but for months, both companies were silent on an actual date for the switch.
