ASUS Eee Stick and LCD teams facing axe?

, Dec 31st 2009 Discuss [0]

ASUS' approach with their entry-level Eee-brand devices has always been to throw as much as possible at the market and see what sticks, and ironically the Eee Stick is one of those devices that has proved less than compelling.  According to a DigiTimes report - denied by ASUS, incidentally - industry insiders are saying the company is preparing to axe its Eee Stick team, as well as the projects responsible for its LCD TV and monitor ranges. ASUS Eee PC 1001P with Atom N450 arrives Jan 6

, Dec 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

The arrival of Pine Trail looks to have re-energized ASUS into their old, netbook churning ways, with another 10.1-inch machine using the Atom N450 processor.  Available for preorder from Amazon Germany, the ASUS Eee PC 1001P keeps the Seashell styling of its predecessors, and aside from the CPU change things are pretty much on a par with last-gen netbooks. ASUS Eee Pad tablet to use Tegra 2 chipset?

, Dec 22nd 2009 Discuss [0]

The ongoing ASUS Eee Pad speculation has now been joined by another interesting rumor, that the Taiwanese company plans to use NVIDIA's Tegra 2 chipset in the touchscreen slate.  Netbook News are reporting that the company have settled on the 1080p HD-capable chipset for the Eee Pad, which is expected to have a touchscreen somewhere between 4- and 7-inches. ASUS EeeBot Android-based educational robot in development

, Dec 17th 2009 Discuss [1]

ASUS' Eee range continues to proliferate, and the next addition to the line-up could be robotics.  The company is involved in a scheme partly funded by the Taiwanese government that aims to promote Android, and will produce a so-called EeeBot affordable robot intended for children and families.  ASUS will develop "content and services" surrounding the robot, which will apparently subsidize the initial hardware costs; that presumably means advertizing or a monthly subscription fee. ASUS Eee PC 1201N gets twin reviews: capable crossover ultraportable

, Dec 14th 2009 Discuss [1]

You wait for one ASUS Eee PC 1201N review and along come two at once.  After delivering some reasonable graphics benchmarks last week, the Ion-toting 12.1-inch netbook has been put through its paces at both Noti and Blogeee and the overall impression is of a segment-bridging machine.  Not quite a netbook and not quite a "proper" ultraportable, the 1201N delivers much of the usability you'd hope for together with strong HD performance, with only a few build quality issues leaving cause for concern. ASUS Eee PC 1201N gets graphics benchmarked

, Dec 11th 2009 Discuss [0]

We've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of ASUS' Eee PC 1201N, the 12.1-inch ultraportable packing Intel's dual-core Atom 330 processor and NVIDIA Ion graphics, so imagine our jealousy when SlashGear reader Vention got in touch to let us know he'd managed to acquire one.  Rather than gloat, Vention ran the benchmarks we've been waiting to see and compared the 1201N with the HP Mini 311. ASUS Eee Pad with 4-7 inch touchscreen tipped

, Dec 10th 2009 Discuss [0]

Who says all the tablet rumors have to be about Apple?  DigiTimes is quoting its usual shadowy "industry sources" who reckon ASUS are reading their own slate-style device, to be called the ASUS Eee Pad.  A crossover MID/tablet according to their suggestion, the Eee Pad would have a 4- to 7-inch touchscreen, but beyond that details are slim. Asus Eee 1201N Seashell netbook with Ion hit Amazon pre-order

You may recall last month that the full specifications for the Asus Eee 1201N netbook turned up online. At the time, we heard the device would be hitting the market in December. ASUS Eee PC 1201HA gets $330 Best Buy price

, Nov 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

If you'd told us a month or two ago that ASUS' Eee PC 1201HA would be arriving at Best Buy priced at $329.99, you might have prompted a few oohs and aahs.  Unfortunately, with the company's NVIDIA Ion and AMD Congo models (the 1201N and 1201T, respectively) on the scene, the standard Atom Z520/GMA950 version seems more than a little backward. ASUS Eee PC 1201T dumps Atom for AMD Congo

, Nov 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

ASUS have pushed out another 12.1-inch ultrathin, and this time they've eschewed Intel in favor of some AMD goodness.  Unlike the 1201HA and 1201N, the ASUS Eee PC 1201T uses AMD's 1.6GHz Congo MV40 processor, along with the RS780MN chipset and ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics; that adds up to 1080p Full HD performance, though it doesn't appear from the spec sheets that ASUS have fitted an HDMI port to the 1201T. ASUS Eee PC T91MT multitouch netbook gets reviewed

, Nov 12th 2009 Discuss [9]

ASUS' Eee PC T91MT multitouch-capable convertible touchscreen netbook may only just be available in the US, but that hasn't stopped MyT91's Kubel from scripting up a full review of the finger-friendly device.  According to his report, the T91MT not only has a great keyboard but a reasonably effective touchscreen; it can only recognize two points of contact and has neither palm-rejection nor pressure-sensitivity, but it still manages to offer more touch-control than previous versions of the T91.
