ASUS’s Eee Top ET2002T and ET2203T all-in-one nettops may have been confirmed for the US since August, but it’s taken the company a little while longer to discuss plants for them in the UK.  Now seems as good a time as any to revisit what you get from either a 20- or 21.6-inch nettop, based on Intel’s Atom dual-core 330 in the case of the smaller machine, or a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo chips in the larger.

The ASUS Eee Top ET2002T all-in-one – which slots NVIDIA’s Ion GPU into the nettop – has made its official appearance on the company’s US site, together with getting an official announcement along with its 22-inch ET2203T sibling..  First spotted on a French retailer’s site last week, the ET2002T packs Intel’s dual-core Atom 330 processor together with a 20-inch 16:9 aspect touchscreen display and DVD burner.

ASUS’ long-awaited Eee Keyboard could land as early as October, according to DigiTimes’ “industry sources”, with pricing set to hover in the $400-500 category.  It will follow on from a refresh of several of ASUS’ Eee-breakaway lines, including a new Eee Top all-in-one and an Eee Box nettop, both of which will use NVIDIA’s Ion GeForce 9300M GPU.

The ASUS EeeTop ET2002T first shown back in June at Computex has apparently made its official debut in France, with Blogeee spotting the full spec-list and some press shots. As expected, the ET2002T brings with it a 20-inch 1,600 x 900 touchscreen display along with a DVD burner and – most interestingly – NVIDIA’s Ion GPU.

Earlier in the month we heard that Atom N270 based netbooks and nettops would be unlikely candidates for inclusion in the Windows 7 Upgrade Program, and that’s looking to indeed be the case.  ASUS have announced details of their program, including which models will be eligible, and only two of the company’s sprawling Eee PC netbook line are included: the 1101HA and the 1005HA.

The new ASUS models from Computex keep on coming, and latest to be spotted are a pair of new Eee Top touchscreen all-in-ones and a 3G-enabled version of the Eee PC 1005HA, the 1005HGo.  The two desktops are the Eee Top ET2203T and the Eee Top ET2202T, and while they ostensibly look similar their specifications are surprisingly diverse.

Review of the week was ASUS’ Eee Top ET1602 touchscreen nettop, which proved itself quite capable of taking on any doubts over an Atom-based PC and throwing them out.  It’s certainly left us excited about next-year’s models, which are meant to have bigger displays and improved media capabilities.  Meanwhile we’re still playing with Nokia’s 5800 XpressMusic Tube; check out our first impressions.

At first glance, ASUS’ Eee Top ET1602 is the epitome of a niche product.  Packing nettop-spec hardware in an all-in-one form factor, with a touchscreen and general design that seem to have stopped by HP’s TouchSmart and the Apple iMac along the way, it’s certainly tough to pin down.  Innovative new segment or just another Eee oddity: SlashGear set to finding out.
